Edit - I hate how this process messes with my feelings. At first I was pretty lukewarm on Elliott, then everyone said nice things about him for a couple days and now I’m warming to him. Probably just in time for him to reject us. Unless he accepts and Huff goes to Duke, then I get to be bitter again.

Everybody needs to relax. No matter what happens with Elliott, we have tons of options:
- Let the players coach themselves. It’ll could be a collective that makes decisions via a democratic process involving multiple elected counsels. Cheap and forward thinking .
- We make a deal with Google to have the AI they are developing run the team and call the plays. It’s going to happen eventually anyway, so let’s get ahead of the curve.
- There’s a wacky mix-up involving us pursuing coach Huff and we end up hiring Jay Huff as football coach. It’d be fun, and every broadcast could start by noting he’s the tallest head coach in the country.
- We scrap football entirely and use the money allotted to it to instead invest risky day trading. If we get lucky, we make way more for the athletic department than football ever would have, and we replace Scott Stadium with a temple dedicated to Tony Bennett, including several intricate tapestries depicting the 2019 championship run.
- We hire Chris Long, which was the obvious answer all along.

How is any of this on Carla? Pointdexter was what alumni wanted. Elliot seemed to be her top choice from the getgo. And she can use this process to leverage more money from the BOV, saying things like “We need to fund football more seriously if we want top candidates to consider us” and “Duke is investing more money in their program and this candidate is noticing”.

You don’t publically lose three coaches in a span of a week and have zero fault as an AD.
So let’s just acknowledge it’s a giant clusterfuck. And no one is entirely innocent in it.

If it’s a candidate both the Alabama DC and Bill O Brien could be options but wouldn’t they have the same concerns Tony Elliot had? I still have hope it’s Tony Elliot and he’s just waiting for that 10am call from Carla tomorrow saying you got the money you need for the staff and the new facilities. And that Carla is secretly using this to leverage more money for football.
We need a gimmick style of play to help our program. Like How packline in basketball is intended to help your team with inferior athletes win against teams like UNC and Duke. Whether it be Mokan and Triple Option or Blake Anderson which would be a very similar offense to what we currently run, we need a scheme that allows us to compete with our inferior resources. And we need to stop with these power 5 coordinators who are just going to have the resources issues and publicly deny us.

The pointdexter noise was just noise from the uva twitter media trying to push their agenda. I doubt 95% of what they were inferring actually happened.

Carla shouldn’t have interviewed Pointdexter unless she was very confident she wanted him for the spot. Because the moment you don’t hire him you’re getting your teeth kicked in by alumni. In essence by interviewing him she gave fuel to those who would loudly clamor for him

Littlepage was a wizard at doing this under the radar. Tony or Bronco could’ve turned us down, and no one would have known. (At least that’s my memory of those hires)
Although this hire had to be done more suddenly so definitely a tougher spot for Carla.

I think this being a public search can be a good thing in Carla leveraging this against the BOV that football needs to be invested in more seriously if we want to have a football program.
Also, I don’t get takes like this. Who fumbled? We have no idea what is actually happening. We just have other people saying things and then we run off with them (I am not innocent of this either). Ratcliffe really made this more toxic than it had to be/really riled up all the twitter people in narratives grounded on nothing more than smoke. We have no idea if the Tony Elliot “hire” was fumbled or what. I know all fan bases suck but man the UVA fan base really does suck/deserves all of this LOL
