All I know Hoos offense ranks 98th Ahead of tech at 111 and miles ahead of the true gift to football Iowa at 130.

Snotty sarcasm aside, I do appreciate anyone who wants to be on this team. It’s obviously a concern that if we’re getting guys who would otherwise go to Georgia State, we’ll end up being about as good as Georgia State, but we need bodies, we gotta get who we can get, and hopefully the staff is identifying guys who can be coached up. Gotta start where we are, overperform, and then move up to the next rung in recruiting. Hope springs eternal.

Are we recruiting better or worse than JMU?

We’re actually recruiting really well. It’s the kids that are committing poorly.

Not Virginia football related, but came to me as I’m watching Baylor and WVU square off. Does anyone actually watch the Big Noon on Saturday Pre-Game on Fox? Hasn’t ESPN Gameday cornered the college football pre-game market?

Remember 3 months ago when everyone thought the Hoo’s schedule was going to be a cakewalk based on preseason predictions made on last season’s results?

As of today the Hoos have played 2 teams that are now ranked in the top 20 in the AP they have one more team on their schedule that’s currently ranked in the top 25, and two opponents that have spent time in the top 25 this season.

3-5 ranked opponents is not a cakewalk especially be ACC standards. Doesn’t excuse the entirety of this season or let the staff off the hook, but does point to the possibility that expectations were probably too gaudy to begin with.

Speaking of, fwiw, here’s the rest of the schedule, per the Athletic’s 1-131 rankings. UVa is #88

  • @GT - 82
  • Miami - 62
  • UNC - 26
  • Pitt - 45
  • Coastal Carolina - 49
  • @VPI - 90

Is it too much to ask to wring 2 more out of that schedule? Maybe Coastal and Miami? Or @GT?

Hmm interesting. The obvious is GT and VT. But I’m so jaded I assume VT is a loss. Miami I’m not sure which Canes show up.

And one possible huge issue is that after last year, it wasn’t just the fans expecting success against such an “easy” schedule. Once things didn’t go as planned, players start checking out on the coaches and things start snowballing… Hopefully the bye week offered a chance for a reset.

Definitely think that happened. The body language has been awful. And i bet more than a few guys were reading their own clippings over the summer and weren’t mentally ready
