This is what I love to see. Olin Simplis is an absolutely legendary skills coach. Wasserman (the agency) often sends their guys to him. Dre trained with him during the summer before his second year and during the first ~25 games of that season (before he got hurt) he was playing at an All-Star level. It’s so great that he finally has a healthy offseason where he can get back to expanding his game.
Looks like Keels is going to be a last second decision. “genuinely torn” is the phrase being thrown out. He wants to go but the feedback wasn’t there apparently. Duke fans split on wanting him gone/back.
For what it’s worth (not much) I sat next to Keels for 20 min in the Charlotte airport this afternoon. Was on the phone the whole time. He didn’t get on either nearby flight to NY or Nashville. If he put the phone down I was going to ask what he was going to do.
Probably the right move from a pure lifetime earnings perspective (he was unlikely to go much past 20 or so next year), and probably the right move from a get away from Duke perspective. But of course the right move would’ve been to not go there in the first place.
