Why would the Nets take that offer? One first round pick and scraps? I guess a massive expiring deal is useful if you go full rebuild but…. I don’t get it.
Also Joe on his own is worth a decent pick. Yeah he was injured last year, but unless the prognosis is terrible, he’s a nice piece.

Because Kyrie could just decide not to play this season. And his value is only going to decrease unless you can get the Lakers to bid against themselves.
Not to mention they have another player on their roster who opted out last year in Simmons. Wouldn’t want Kyrie’s bad energy around him. Having Ben self-select to miss more time would be disastrous.
I’m not sure about Joe’s inclusion but it may be needed to match salary?

Yeah i think the Lakers obviously need shooting but also makes things work salary-wise.

That’s great for Malc, and our resident Cs fans on the board. Does seem like a great deal for the Cs, though I guess injury history + amount of guaranteed money on contract played into that. Seems like a good fit for them though, so I’m hoping for good health and a strong season for Malc.

Man I love me some Brogs but damn it’s gonna hurt me to have cheer for the C’s now. I tell you what this current group of Celtics is doing all they an to make me a fan and this might just tip the scale.
Just catching up on this and what a steal of a deal. C’s are still deep enough that they don’t have to ride Brog into the ground with meaningless mins all season. And they finally have a secure ball handler come playoff season.
