And he is playing alongside Jared Harper lol

Trey looks very good to me so far, like someone with NBA experience should look in the summer league. Taking it to the rim a lot more, obviously put on some muscle, and has altered like half a dozen shots on D. Of course ended the half with a 3 ball - 17 first half points

17 first half points

Dude’s about to get shut down for Summer League after one half

His rebounding has been horrendous is the only draw I’ll give

Wouldn’t be surprised if they did that. Their first round pick Dyson Daniels is already out with an ankle, and they’re keeping Jose Alvarado out cause he’s banged up. No need to push it

Great overall game

Not sure last I saw he was listed as okc no2 pg not sure what that translates to with the Thunders immediate future. Also not entirely sure what their plan is. They were on that Celtics accumulate every draft asset possible but they are starting to use and hit on some of them. So maybe the timeline is accelerated?

Hauser also had a solid outing tonight after a rough first summer league game. Was 4-9 for 12 pts in 18 minutes.

Not sure why but OKC seems to like Josh Giddey a lot who looks awkward playing the pg slot…when he dribble drives it just looks messy…I see him as just a catch and shoot guy…

I was surprised when i saw Giddy listed and playing the 1. I think he’s more a 2. But then half of OKC lineup is awkward looking and playing individuals. They will either change the game or collapse on their face ala Houston playing with no one over 6’5

I wouldn’t say Houston collapsed

True what would be a better word? failure to launch? implode, failed, doomed… I’m open for suggestions.

Most franchises would kill for being a stones throw from being in the finals and being the third best team during that stretch behind the Warriors and LeBrons Cavs

True, but I hate that argument, because at the same time if you are that team (Houston) you are not happy with being a stones throw away. 3rd place isn’t a thing. They made those moves to win a championship and it didn’t work, not only did it not work they ended up blowing up the entire team and had to reset. As a professional sports franchise if they are happy with that outcome then I’d say they care more about the money than the sport and that’s a whole different can of worms.

The franchises that would kill to be a stones throw away are the ones that never had a prayer of getting there anyways.

Edit: I should say the franchises that are satisfied with being a stones throw away never had a chance to begin with.

I don’t disagree that the point is to win championships. I disagree with the implication that the team building strategy underlying Houston was a failure. You can’t build a team to explicitly win championships. You can only build a team that has a legitimate chance to win one. And Houston did that so in my view it was a successful approach at building a team. Was the team ultimately a success? No, but the viability of the concept was proven

As a long-time fan of the Sacramento Kings (starting in the 80s when they moved to Sacramento), your team being consistently competitive (the Adelman years, late 90s to mid 2000s) is a lot more fun than when its absolute trash (every other season they have been in Sacramento) even if they never win anything.

Fun fact: The Kings moved to Sacramento in 1985 and it took them 14 years to have a .500 or better season. The streak ended when they hired Rick Adelman who led the team to 8 straight seasons in which they were both above .500 and made the playoffs. They were somehow disappointed by this, let him go, and since then have gone 16 straight seasons under .500 and without making the playoffs.

Kings’ Winning % in non-Rick Adelman coached games in Sacramento: .364 over 30 seasons.

I am very curious to see how NOLA will be next year. They have gone kind of the opposite of small ball and their roster is quite large and athletic
