We have the Atlanta hawks this year:

Just want it on the record that I knew from the jump. But also later convinced myself that this time was different just like everyone else :pensive:

HGN said we had to beat Duke. Tough beat down for the good guys in recruiting. Let’s just beat the motherfuckers on the court.

Screw Duke. Go Hoos!

Man, this choice and the way he handled it have skyrocketed the Con man close to the top of my most hated dookie list. He may be the first to accomplish that while still in high school.

If one of these 3 transferred to us after 1 year at Duke due to playing time, which would you be the most excited about?

Pass. Some stank just don’t wash off.

Between Mark Mitchell, TJ Power, Sean Stewart, Isaiah Evans, Cooper Flagg (let’s be real), I’m surprised by the choice due to a crowded roster…maybe some transfers and some pro jumps I’m not expecting (Mitchell) but just seems like a tough place to play right now with the backlog of talent in waiting.

On to the next one then!

Already hit you back (post directly above yours). We good.

Miserable, but good!

My bad. Totally missed it. We’re indeed good.

I’m sure Scheyer told him he had his back or some shit like that. Somehow that works

TJ Powers is the closest to being redeemable on that list. Dude just got sucked in by the bright shiny object. Honestly think Duke offered him so we would not get him. TJ is not going to see a minute of meaningful playing time at Duke. But honestly I’m not sure he wouldn’t be lost on our bench as well. He seems like a guy who will transfer to UMass or Northeastern eventually.

If Eli Bennett had been a 5* he’d have gone to…

No. You can pick any other shiny object or money bag you like and be redeemed. But not that one.

I imagine that, to Kneuppel, Virginia’s roster didn’t appear that much less crowded. Given Coach Bennett’s tendency to keep true frosh on the bench until they have demonstrated a grasp of the defense, I don’t think he would have earned much early playing time. Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome certainly didn’t play much early, and I am not convinced that their competition for PT was as great as that Knueppel would encounter at UVa. I get it that his role, as a true frosh, wasn’t assured at Duke, but I’m don’t think it was a certainty at Virginia, either.

His pitch was even better than that:

ā€œFifteen years ago I was a long wing, top 25 in my class. I chose Duke and that system took my talent to the Israeli professional league. It’s the NBA of the Middle East — and it was awesome. Talented guys like us don’t need to be drafted by an NBA team or make a roster. We’re Midwesterners, and I got your back, donchaknow?ā€

I said closest to, not that he was in fact redeemable :joy:

I’m sure this has already been said but I’m 500 posts behind. Wish the best for the kid but I hope iMac locks the dude up and he barely scores against us. Like the number 1 pick in the 2022 draft, Paolo, who only scored in single digits twice in college and it was when Gardner was guarding him…

Guy got 19 mpg on a team that had 88 mpg returning from the previous season at the 1-3 spots — pre-portal, pre-NIL.

We don’t know what we’ll have returning at those spots next year.
