Why is this an 18 team tournament?
There are 10 automatic qualifiers. Thatâs fluctuated over the years based on growth / contraction.
The ACC and A-10 for instance didnât get an AQ until 2014 I think. The Big 10 not until 2015.
The 4 lowest ranked AQs play in a play-in round. Preserves 8 spots for at larges to avoid cuts to some deserving teams from the top leagues.
Edit: seems like the committee has some discretion to who they put in the play in from the AQs

As good a draw as possible. Iâd like to see Richmond take out Duke. Duke will have a lot of momentum if they win that one

The ACC does not have enough teams right now for an AQ⊠but I think the whole conference made it anyways.

That announcement was an April Fools joke. BC menâs lax is unfortunately not coming back as of now.

The ACC had an AQ the one season after Cuse and ND joined before UMD left. Not that it matters anyway. I canât conceive of any remotely plausible scenario where the ACC is shut out.
Also, I wouldnât be surprised to see this become a 20 or even a 24 team tournament within the next few years. HmmâŠwell maybe not. Youâd need ticket sales from the 2 additional games to cover travel costs for 2 teams and those costs might be pretty high considering the large rosters. Way more than 1,000 tickets at 10 bucks a pop would net.

Problem with expanding the tournament is there arenât that many programs. 18 out of 73 (I believe? Might be off by a little) is already almost 25% of teams

#5 seed Hoos down 8-7 to Georgetown at the half. This is not the same team I saw in the ACC tournament. Georgetown dominated in the 2nd quarter. Lars better get their heads on straight or itâs going to be a quick out.
Fun fact: #5 seeds are 21-1 in NCAA menâs lacrosse tournament history. So weâre fâd.

Their goalie is playing out of his mind and Marek is having an off day so far. Also we were way too sloppy with the ball in the 2nd quarter.

Darn - awful turn of events there.
If we lose this one, I might be ready to move on from Tiffany. His teams are too undisciplined and too sloppy. Hard to win in May when you canât hold onto the ball.
The refs have not had control of this game for a while now. What a mess.
I think the only shot that has hit frame in the 4th is the only goal.
