Georgetown isn’t that good. Honestly the Hoos look like they all went on a collective bender last night and are playing with hangovers. This one’s over.

Three goals in 40 minutes because we started turning it over in 2Q. I’m more than might be willing to let go of Tiffany after this one.

Getting our asses kicked at home by an inferior team we’ve absolutely owned.

Fuck it, fire him.

Awful

Bummer, just didn’t play well tonight. Great turnaround to get here though. Will suck to have championship weekend in Cville and the players watching rather than playing.

Yeah, Tiffany’s future with the program is such a tough decision to make. Lars has got two Nattys and two additional Final Fours, but, damn, the team has just been so inconsistent the last few seasons underneath his leadership.

We need to start playing better in the beginning of the season and earning top 2 or 3 seeds like we used to pretty much every year. It would guarantee us a cupcake in 1st round game.

Georgetown is not very good but capable of beating us if we play poorly like we did, whereas we’d still easily beat teams like Marist or Jacksonville with a bad game, which is possible after a conference tournament run and with playing the Sunday night game, etc.

With travel restrictions for this tournament and the current national landscape, it’s likely that teams like Richmond, Hopkins, Gtown, and Maryland will be our first round opponents moving forward unless we get a top 2 or 3 seed.

We can’t afford all these early season losses anymore.

Anyone know what’s happening with Lars? Lot of smoke on the Sabre saying he’s out

The last post I saw from the source of it all said Lars might be stepping down. That would make sense to me. He’s probably being asked to commit to a certain amount of fundraising responsibilities and doesn’t want to

Word is spreading around town that it’s done. I haven’t heard whether it’s the school pushing him away or if it’s Lars stepping away. I see some parallels with Tony Bennett honestly. In many ways this is not the same job he signed up for when he joined. The constant fundraising and NIL dance has to be grating on him.

Hopefully if it’s a friendly departure, we can keep the roster intact. We have so much talent for next season if we can keep them around

My understanding, which may or may not be accurate, is our Lacrosse funding has taken a nosedive relative to every other program in the ACC since NIL became a thing.

This seems insane to me given the program’s success and wealthy alumni base.

The same person that shared the rumor on thesabre of Lars potentially leaving also said there was plans of a major fundraising push this offseason by our top Lacrosse donors in hopes of getting more scholarships endowed.

But I’m pretty sure we’ve been operating at a disadvantage the past couple years compared to the rest of the ACC. If there’s someone closer to the program on this board please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

To be clear, I’m not doubting you. Just feels like a fixable problem.

Is this just every offseason for us now? A storied coach departing the program because they’re burnt out or we’re behind on the new way of doing things?

Don’t know how legit this guy is, but he’s saying it’s over.

He’s a lax influencer of sorts. Not something to take to the bank but not nothing either

If Lars is leaving of his own accord, I wouldn’t say it’s because UVA is or has been slow to adapt to the NIL era. It’s very likely more that the landscape has changed so much and along with it, the coaching job itself. Think Tony Bennett here. Despite what some kooks would have you believe, he didn’t leave because he didn’t see eye to eye with Carla or couldn’t get the support he needed. He left because he was sick of agents coming to his practices, sick of the hierarchy on the team that was salary dependent, the lack of loyalty, development, and trust he fostered in his program for years.

Lars was very likely sick of the fundraising he had to do for support of his program. That includes NIL deals they needed to support. Coaching is a very hard profession and when there’s a sea change like the past few years, it leads to some simply breaking. UVA can’t operate in the same way anymore and THAT is why you see guys like Tony and potentially Lars (if true), move away from it.

If it comes out that he wanted to come back and UVA wanted to move in a different direction, I’d be deeply disappointed in the entire operation and organization.

The survival of all the nonrevenue sports comes down to getting scholarships endowed. That’s a big fundraising pull and a lot of people might not want to deal with that (to be clear, I have no knowledge of what’s going on with Lars).

That’s very likely accurate in Lars’ case. Again, if he is calling it quits. Just the latest canary in the coal mine for non-revs.
