Gag. So hard to win with a roster full of Burger Boys.
Yes, when they get injured all season, it is hard. Why do I have to stick up for this guy? Canât we all just acknowledge they have had difficult circumstances? When they have?
I know boo-friggin-hoo⌠but then we are all like (me included) ⌠âwell Reece is only 98.5% so thatâs why we arenât playing as wellâŚâ
Folks, itâs okay to hate Duke just because. You literally do not need a reason! But then we get annoyed when people say some correct things? Not me, I hate** Scheyer just for being himself.
** sports hate, to be clear. Iâm sure heâs a lovely young man.
Oh so youâre saying you love Scheyer and you love Duke. Well I for one remain a UVA fan and btw I trust Tony, I donât question him.
Lol I laughed so hard at this for some reason

As good of a thread as any
Replies are already complaining that this means they must ignore conference tournaments. But what do you expect the committee to do, wait until Sunday afternoon to get started? They have to sort things out the best they can in advance. (Besides which, âone more gameâ on some teamâs resume is going to cause only a marginal shift. The committee can rank order and still make mild adjustments as they go.)
Who was injured all season?
Lively missed 2 games, Roach 4 and Whitehead 8.
In their eight losses:
Whitehead was out for Kansas and Miami.
Roach was out for Clemson.
Lively and Whitehead were out for Wake.
None of the three was out for Purdue, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Virginia.
Itâs not as though Duke doesnât have any talent waiting on the bench.
Most arenât going to feel sorry for a coach with the following roster, even with a key guy missing a key game from time to time:
Jaylen Blakes G â No. 109 (2021)
Mark Mitchell F â No. 20 (2022)
Tyrese Proctor G â No. 27 (2022)
Dariq Whitehead G/F â No. 2 (2022)
Jeremy Roach G â No. 23 (2020)
Jacob Grandison G â 10 ppg/41% 3PFG% at Illinois last year
Jaden Schutt G â No. 75 (2022)
Ryan Young F/C â 9.0 ppg/5.2 rpg @ Northwestern over three seasons)
Kyle Filipowski F/C â No. 4 (2022)
Dereck Lively F/C â No. 3 (2022)
Christian Reeves C â No. 145 (2021)
Yup and Lively and Whitehead missed most of the preseason, too. So it sounds like youâre saying they had a lot of injury issues, so we agree.
Not asking anyone to feel compassion for Jon Scheyer (as Iâve said already), just pointing out that itâs correct that they had injury issues.
Ah, I got it. I typed âall seasonâ off handed and youâre pointing out that they ALL were not injured ALL season. In fact, none of them were injured all season, and all of them played some of the season, therefore everyone feel free to hate on Duke for what ever reason you want, because lord knows I wonât be able to convince you otherwise.
Plenty of reasons here. Though not sure the soccer moms one would fly in the 2020âs
That seems to be the case now. They said last year VT wouldnât have gotten in without winning the ACCT, when it was assumed they were a lock by making the final game.
It used to annoy me that they counted conference tourney games the same because of how teams have unequal motivation. But I think now theyâve swung too far in the other direction, almost removing hope for teams like UNC to play their way in without winning the auto bid.
I just find hard to believe that if UNC lost to a really really awesome DUKE team in ACC finals that they wouldnât find a way to sneak UNC into the tournament.
Is Reeceâs back up another top 30 recruit in Tyrese Proctor? No itâs not.
Listen- even if Roach and a couple of their other guys are injured they still have Blakey, and a few of their other pieces to shift around. They *still have 13 scholarship players the majority are atleast 4 stars.
I cannot stand the built in excuse that âdook is young or injuredâ or that âScheyer is NOT K, so how can we (the media) criticize him. And then on the flip side if theyâre good then itâs what we expected and we- the media get to suck them off.
They get their flowers, either way. Does anybody else get the same built in âyouth or injuryâ excuse when theyâre not good?
Iâm still in shock that the refs got the no call right at the end of our game. I know the media and the ACC bitched and moaned about it, but they actually got it right. And the right call kept duke from winning the game as well as a share of the ACC.
Beyond belief that actually happened.
Teams get the âtheyâre hurtâ excuse all the time. Also the reason theyâre young is because of roster decisions made by someone besides Scheyer. Heâs already indicated he doesnât prefer a roster that young
Cosmic justice prevailed.
Well- he has 5/6 more young players coming in next year so itâs best to wait on peopleâs actions vs. the BS they spew.
When do they announce the All-ACC awards? I see where the Big East is out.
The last couple years itâs been on Monday.
