March 2023 - UVA Hoops

Are they? They don’t really have an inside scorer and shoot a bunch of 3s

I think they might be if they hit those 3’s they score. Also will have a lot of size. You may be completely right. I don’t think they’re that great of team but think they might be a tough matchup for us. We struggle with teams that are especially big and athletic.

I think we’re confusing big / athletic to defense. Duke has been an exceptional defensive team all year. Even without lively.

There’s nothing exceptional about Bamas defense.

That is absolutely a fair point, lol.

I’d welcome Bama as our 1 seed. Their style of play leaves room for a ton of variance. Whether against us or in the two games before the Sweet 16. Same with Purdue and their reliance on Eday. If I get to choose I’d rather avoid Kansas and Houston

I have heard terrible ft shooting a bunch of times in posts. We were 13-17, 76% most of the misses by Franklin early. That wasn’t the problem.

And made clutch free throws against UNC late

I’d assume Houston not an option if we’re a 4 since we’ve already played

Bring on Kansas in KC. We’ve done it before with another guard-dominant team that shared an ACC regular season title, played tough man D, and lost a starter to injury

I’d pass on that. Rather take the chance at getting a 8/9 in NYC or Louisville

@Ahooiam1 it was part of a list of things. Shooting is a big problem, and Fts are definitely a problem, regardless of percentages, they have been all year. It’s free points. Going in down 3-4 instead 7 changes things. But I am mostly talking about shooting overall in this game.

Took me a while to figure who exactly Ryan Dunn reminds me of.

Right now, it’s a 2000 version of Adam Hall. Long, explosive athlete, raw, terrific defensive instincts, working on his handles and jumper.

Who I think he can be? A more offensively polished Cornel Parker, with the length and instincts to shut down any position 1-4 while possessing the ability to average 8-10 points, 5-6 boards and 2-3 assists.

Cornel Parker probably laments that the conference didn’t have a Defensive Player of the Year award when he was at UVA.

Thread already appears to be closed but I linked the Clemson review on Twitter. Duke review hopefully tomorrow.

ACC Tournament thread isn’t closed yet, maybe you could post it there since the game thread was closed.

I would just put it here… if you want, I can move it into the closed threads, but you would probably get better engagement here in this thread.

And this is why I don’t ever go to the Sabre. Just wanted some bracketology talk and I find this. Someone want to kindly refute so we can move on:

A few people on Creighton’s forum and a local radio personality are
Confident of landing Traudt as a transfer. If it’s true, I hope CTB adjusts and recognizes the benefits of giving a highly touted recruit that you expect to play a significant role some run in their freshman year, especially in the no sit-out era. A tight rotation has its benefits too, but not if it’s going to lose you important guys you’d otherwise keep. He’ll either need to do that or rely even more on transfers, but we’re at somewhat of a disadvantage given the complexity of our defense and our lack of bags to offer.
And yes, I know Tony says it’s left up to the player to reshirt but Traudt’s February quotes don’t sound like he was gung-ho about it.

There’s been chatter about this on other boards and on twitter since Thursday. Who knows how plugged-in the radio guy is or how in the know everyone backing it up are, there were Creighton ‘insiders’ who swore up and down that Traudt was gonna be released from his LOI in order to sign with them and they ended up being wrong.

“JAR’s dad was ok with the redshirt”

I get that. But I feel like it’s slightly different because JAR sucks. I didn’t get any sense out staff cared that he left.
