March 2023 - UVA Hoops

My take on this is all you cowards need to spend more time filling out brackets for the LRA bracket challenge and less time on gossip (that may be true - how the heck would I know)

In hindsight you are right. My bad all, let’s put a pin in it. I guess I put more credence in the radio host thing than it deserved and yes it makes very little sense. Let’s just run with transfers in rumors, not out.

Don’t look back in anger (although that can be hard when reading rube gossip)

I think everyone needs to relax. I think Isaac is happy and he’s inheriting a perfect situation for him. If he leaves we will be able to get a 6 10 stud transfer based on playing time.
It always works out - Though I prefer to build around the 2022 class!

For all the incessant, tiresome, apocalyptic posts about transfers that I read here, I have to ask: When have we lost a player that we really, really wanted to keep?

The only one I can think of is Casey.

I’m sure we would have liked to have kept Shayok and Thompson, but everyone knew that they were going to give up playing time to the incoming class. Marco wasn’t really an ACC-caliber player. Igor might have become one, but not for another couple of years. In retrospect, you could say the same for McKoy. JAR was a bad fit, for both sides. Probably the player they were saddest to see go was Malachi, but not so sad that they were going to put him on scholarship.

Tony is honest with what he tells the players at the end of the year, and almost everyone who left did so because they were not going to have the role they wanted. That’s obviously not true for Traudt. Kadin? Remains to be seen.

I wanted to keep Shayok, DT, McKoy, and Casey. And yeah none of those were huge hits to the program, and the first two made total sense for the players. But I did want to keep them.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. By “we,” I meant the basketball staff. (If “we” meant us, Igor would be at the top of the list.) And I was trying to draw the distinction between liking to keep someone – and I’m pretty sure Tony would have liked to have kept everyone – and really, really wanting to keep them because they were a critical piece. Like Traudt.

Just catching up here (meaning i skimmed a few post and am now qualified to spit hot fire)

If Traudt is leaving because of his GF eff him he’s a dumb 19 year old. Dragon’s girl transfered to UW after freshman year did he up and move to Wisconsin? No they made it work then he doubled down and signed a contract to spend 2 yrs in Ire. That’ll teach her.

Also are we still together 20 some yrs later? Hell to tha naw and Dragon is better for it.

Moral of the story: don’t put your future in someone elses hands.

Disrespectful to what values? Wanting to play basketball? Literally nobody in this thread has criticized anything besides maybe wanting to move across the country for a GF, which is fair to criticize a 19 year old at the zenith of college basketball for doing

Look we only want guys who want to be here and sign up for the process…that’s the system….i don’t care who it is…if they aren’t committed to tb’s approach…go…so why are we worrying…we got a scholly for someone who wants to here (however…I think it’s bs…dude redshirted to get better long term…he’s staying).

Can we put a pin in this? Let’s not devolve into the Sabre lol.

……

Yeah I think it’s best to not continue the speculation until something is actually confirmed. Because literally nothing is yet, this is all based on rumors from questionable sources lol.

We should simply transfer our stress to something else, like potentially losing in the first round. Lol.

I truly believe the rt approach is get character guys who want to work and get better…a vastly improved 3 star is better then a nba or bust 5 star without intensity…u want dudes who are committed…if we ever become a one and done factory…I’m done and no longer care

The Oklahoma game in 19 fit that bill. Lead all the way, never really felt in doubt. Those are few and far between thought lol

Ok maybe…but I have m state and Syracuse flash backs that no lead is ever safe

Round 32 game against Memphis was a cake walk, Nichols was a freshman and their only good player.

Edit: iowa st (S16?) was also too easy, that was a solid team too
