Would the ācollectiveā have input on how the NIL money is used?
This is interesting idea, especially if done on a larger scale. Done independently you could choose where to allocate to try to retain players this time of year. No idea of the legality of course haha
Yes, we could vote on who the money goes to.
How about $50 per month for the months of April - July. Get 500 people and thatās $100,000. Allocate $50K in stay bonuses to the returning team payable in May (i.e. - nothing to transfers) and the remaining 50K to the guys we pick up in the portal. Can extend it and pay recruits when they set foot on grounds in August. Iām in.
Iām in. Itās time we started recruiting, lol
LRA after endlessly complaining about recruiting:

This is what Iāve wanted. Open up the check books and make happen. Now whoās hand do I have to shake to make sure the money goes to the right place.

We be re-cruitin!
I got you man. Send it in and Fresh make sure the right dudes get it!
Fresh actually having bags to drop!
My man. Knew you had the hookup.
The Fresh Bag of the Week.
I wonder if you could create a collective where the NIL jobs were to appear as spokespeople for the collective. Basically extolling the wonders of the U and their respective teams.
āHi! Iām Ryan Dunn and Iām on Team Haney. Iām here to tell you that youāre all doing it wrong.ā
I think it would be as simple as they would have to provide AMA time for LRA⦠might be the most lucrative 1- to 2- hour AMAs ever!
Uh, always remember, itās Ryan MFāing Dunn. Heās actually on Team WFS so heās here to tell us weāre f*cked.
NIL and the transfer portal as itās currently configured now will ruin college basketball. I have 2 simple solutions that would help greatly. Bring back the 1 year sit out rule for transfers. One exception .. if the coach is fired or leaves for another job the 1 yr sit out rule is waived. No NIL money from any team during the sit out year. After the sit out year let the capital market freely operate with regulations enacted by Congress.
A non starter in reality. This wonāt even be allowed to be part of the discussion because the NCAA is so afraid of court right now
Think youād probably have to make a personal or close familial ā parent/guardian/sibling ā health exception, too. (So long as the athlete or family member in question is willing to waive HIPAA in a non-redacted and non-public NCAA filing.)
The NCAA dropped the 1 year sit out rule under pressure from the Trump Justice Department. It seems that theyāre growing a little more backbone under Biden if theyāre talking about denying immediate eligibility for 2nd time undergraduate transfers. However, if Trump wins in 2024, you can expect a return to complete immediate eligibility.
