NBA Season '20-'21

Thanks for sending. Wow does he look good. Never thought we would see him go coast to coast with the dribble

I was working from home yesterday so I had Mamadi’s game on in the background. He looked every bit as good as the highlight reel showed. Impressive.

I feel like there’s a natural Siakam comparison to be made.

Also, I watched his Blue Ridge highlights a couple of months ago. Feel like that tape is much closer to the type of player he is here than what he was asked to do at UVA.

One of the comments brings up the point that maybe percentage of points scored for your team is a better indicator for things like being a prospect or maybe even ACC POY, compared with just ppg

Yes and efficiency stats of our shots taken. I think the value of our guys playing at our pace allows us to think more cerebrally about the game, think 2-3 steps ahead *without rushing as one would during a fast paced game. And then once we got to the NBA the decisions to make the right play become easier and faster because we know what NOT to do in order to avoid turnovers etc.

Mama-D playing like these guys are in highschool.
Mama there goes that man!

Wish there was a way to get that just for 3-4 possesions in college. The transition 3s by Hauser and Murphy are big and when we are in a 5 minute drought we could use those.

Yeah I think Tony let’s the team do it once he gains their trust a bit. For example there were times that Kyle Guy ran the break a bit and scored…mostly. Of course there were times where he didn’t make the layup like the second half of the Purdue game, and then he would slow it down on the following possession. Yesterday Reece ran a 2 on 2 break and got Trey an open shot, after Trey previously had a his dunk in the first half.

Man either Mamadi is League or the G League is wack. Literally doing whatever he wants

Mamadi not getting drafted was stupid at the time and it’s stupider now

The G League is a far cry from the league. JA dropped stats in there last year and so did Kyle. That said Mamadi is special and if his handles are as relaiable as they’re looking he’s gonna find a new home sooner than later.

His handle is crazy improved yes

The Pascal Siakam comparisons UVa fans have been regularly spouting for several years will slowly become a reality if he continues down this path and playing this explosive…

Agreed. He has all the potential to grow into a similar role

Yeah but the G-league is all former college players and maybe some highschool players. So theoretically those college players have been coached up, have experience and have developed in college, but Mamadi is making them look like highschoolers . Of course none of them have had Tony’s coaching or otherwise they would show as well out of the gate as the UVA players that you mentioned.

Now as you said it will be on Mamadi to continue to refine his skill to kick ass in the Gleague and hopefully make the comparison to someone like Pascal Siakam so that psychologically team GMs make that comparison as well…similarly to how Dre has been dubbed the baby Kawhi!

Mamadis touch is REALLY nice though. And remember he had only been playing basketball since highschool I believe so can still develop more.

There are a lot of guys that can score in the G League. I’m convinced it what makes all the difference in the world is the right situation. Landing on the team that doesn’t just need to fill a roster spot but needs a player with a particular skill set will make all the difference. There is a team or teams that Mamadi can help, same for Kyle as far as that goes. It’s just finding the right opportunity.

Yeah I agree with this. Mamadi has such a great personality that I think he shows well in interviews. In addition this Gleague team is *not the Bucks Gleague team so he’s also showing whichever team this is, that he is *also a good player and if the Bucks don’t want him, then he can contribute. Mamadi is probably a more refined Wenyen Gabriel.

So true fit is so important g league guys have to be adaptable. No one is bringing them in to fill an obvious hole or to build a team around. The ones that stick in the league do all that other stuff first and then have the ability to pour in some points.

Yes. To steal a phrase from Cory Alexander “the NBA has guys that can score. You need to focus on the rest”. Mamadi showing well all around
