Sometimes having a career as a HIGH LEVEL and SUCCESSFUL assistant is worth it to most people. Just like rebuilding a bball team each year can be difficult, so can finding the right chemistry with a coaching team. So why not wish for Jwilly to stay around for as long as possible?
Honestly we have seen some decline in some ways with McKay and other coaches leaving, so let’s hope for them all to stay.
Also worth mentioning is that, um, JWilly’s wife is a BIG-TIME lawyer in DC and is probably the real breadwinner in the household atm. By all accounts they’re really happy in C-ville and it would REALLY have to be a good job to get him out of central VA.
Running FSU would probably qualify, but it seems unlikely he’d be able to jump straight there and there probably isn’t time for him to go anywhere else (which would probably have to be Central VA-ish, because taking the reins at, say, Drake, likely wouldn’t count as a good enough gig to be worth it), prove himself, and THEN get a P6 HC job all before Austin gets serious with his recruiting. There just aren’t enough seasons between now and then.
Her firm has offices in almost 30 cities. I know she’s only licensed in VA, MA and DC, but she can waive into most others. If she’s a valued partner with a good book and with the increased acceptance of remote work (I’m going to take a gander and say she doesn’t commute to DC every day), I don’t think geography is going to be an impediment to her career at her firm or an equivalent one.

I tried to make a poll and failed. Why do we all like Gertrude so much? Cause Fresh said so, HGN said so, genuine need or cause he tries to dunk everything he can?
This is it for me. Love athleticism at guard. Also in a head to head w Kaiser, Kaiser has had a funky recruitment I wouldn’t mind steering clear of
I like him because I think he is a major need. Kid puts his head down and goes to the rim. And I would bet he has the potential to become a major lockdown defender.
Kaiser may be a better player (and he may not) but he seems to be only a 3 where there will be a lot of competition and he will have family members whispering in his ear if he doesn’t play a lot right away. I just think a CG like Gertrude fits in better behind the returning players and I like adding athleticism and hard nosed defense to the shooters that TB is prioritizing lately.
