LA Clippers have expanded fairly considerably, I think. New arena, Sterling–>Ballmer, etc.

Reflection…. I became a Celtics fan and UVA basketball fan the same year - when Bird arrived in Boston and Ralph arrived in Hooville… became a Staubach and Dorsett and Too Tall Jones fan before that… a Dodgers fan the year Bob Welch struck out Reggie Jackson in the World Series and A Liverpool fan over 20 years ago… this was a great year for me as a sports fan and hopefully even better if Liverpool hangs on for the EPL title!!!

But Hoodom is the best of all … and I’m thankful to all of you for keeping it interesting and entertaining more times than not.
Grateful for all y’all

Another in this series of things I want to see or don’t want to see in the new regime..:
In football time of possession is talked about a ton as a huge factor in the game and how you can’t let your defense be on the field for too long or else they’re gonna get tired and eventually wear out and the opposing offense is going to take advantage of it.
I find it interesting so many fans don’t really consider that aspect in basketball where the same guys actually play defense and offense, so the exhaustion literally directly affects the offense as well because it’s the same players.
This notion of defending for a full shot clock over and over again is a fool’s errand unless you are committed to a full 10 man rotation where nobody plays more than 27 minutes a game unless you have an anomaly like Ryan Dungeon that can just run around all game and not get tired. So in the new regime, we need to be able to mix it up where we aren’t pouring so much effort into a full shock clock of defense over and over and over again, giving us no energy for the other end. Playing zone can rest tired legs. Putting in a 1-3-1 trap can create shorter defensive possessions by either steals, disruptions or bad shots or even giving up good shot shots, but the possession will be shorter. Playing some full court defense like teams do against us which creates shorter shot clock possessions, effectively.
We have to have a regime that can mix it up and never allow opponents to watch 2 minutes of tape on us and game plan effectively.

A bit melancholy today…

In a gym where the lights dimmed low,
Virginia and Miami, both slow,
A battle of the bottom, it seemed,
Where dreams of glory were far and unredeemed.

Virginia, with passes that float through the air,
The ball moves around but gets nowhere.
No hustle, no fight, just a stagnant flow,
Rebounding’s a joke, but they don’t seem to know.

Ground-bound and clumsy, their moves lack grace,
Every shot feels like a desperate chase.
They fumble, they stumble, they miss once again,
A team with no wings that can’t seem to ascend.

On the other end, Miami has speed,
Athletes, no doubt, but it’s defense they need.
Fast on the break, they fly down the floor,
But when it comes to stopping, they’re lost at the door.

They can score, they can run, they can leap through the air,
But when it’s time to defend, they just stand there and stare.
An interim coach, eyes glazed with despair,
The future uncertain, yet neither seems to care.

A clash of the stranded, the lost and the broke,
Two teams adrift, just trying to cope.
A dance of mistakes, with no end in sight,
A game for the fans who enjoy a good fight.

But in the end, the scoreboard will say,
Who faltered the most on that fateful day.
Both teams are sinking, no escape from the fall,
Just another sad chapter in a season that’s stalled.

My secret shame is NOT that I love awards shows. Awards shows are great.

My secret shame is that I stole the poll question from Elevator TV. They had the Oscar’s v Grammys question, and the elevator people preferred Grammys. I couldn’t believe it

I’m an awards show guy but the Grammys are a joke/abomination.

Awards shows are a waste of time. Ive never watched the Oscars don’t understand them or the interest. I used to watch the Grammys as a kid for the performances but even that has dropped severely in the last 20 yrs

My favorite part of awards shows is when they accept their awards and then talk about political things instead of the reason why they won their award. I mean… I get they are entitled to their opinions and free speech and all… but come on… if you win an Oscar for playing a talking dog, I want to hear praise about the talking dog! Why does the dog have to get slighted because you think crime is too high in Akron, Ohio?

30 seconds and cut the mic. That’d be my policy

My policy would be: ā€œNo politics. This evening is about movies. You talk about the film and the production of it. If your movie is about a social topic, you’re allowed to talk about that topic. Otherwise, we will cut your mic.ā€

It’s no different from ā€œDon’t talk politics at workā€, even if that rule seems to have broken down pretty severely in some workplaces, and I’m assuming Hollywood is one of those workplaces…

My issue with the oscars is not politics in the speaches. Its was a snorefest before this current phenomenon. I say cut the whole thing down to a 2 hr window and encourage more action i need more Will Smith slappin folk.

ā€œOscar Winners Slap Each Otherā€ would get AMAZING ratings

Maybe the voters pick the final 2, then the Oscar goes to the harder slap. I would watch that.
