I succeeded at what I was trying to do – figuring out that I shouldn’t spend any more time on that. :joy:

I really enjoy watching this Team USA squad. They have the lion’s share of the young exciting players in the NBA and they play like an exemplar modern NBA team: 5-out on offense with a good mix of spacing and player movement, and then they can switch everything on defense. They are about as exciting as they can be without having a top-15 player on the team.

A casual tennis fan here, but I was blown away by the highlights. Just an incredible display of elite level tennis…

I watched the whole thing as with every Alcaraz or Djoker (or Nadal or Fed) match. Such elite sport. Game is in great hands for the next decade or more with Alcaraz’s ascendance.

As Andy Roddick said afterward, it was also the best post-match speeches we have seen because they were so exhausted they had no remarks prepared, only what came to mind. Djokovic looked over at Alcaraz and with complete admiration said ā€œYou just never quit, do you?ā€ And Alcaraz said because he’s a Spaniard, to which Djoker acknowledged Carlos was just like another relentless Spaniard all-time great. They also paid homage to their teams and family who support them even though they have to be away from them for long periods of time. Very honest and touching and so impressive that they can find just the right words in non-native English.

The next couple of years with those two will be special.

With uva football looking uninspiring I’ve gotten further and further into EPL. Getting to obsessed status and I don’t even have a team:

Who does everyone like in here?

Liverpool for 20 some years… also love watching Brighton and West Ham play the last few years.

Not the most exciting and maybe a dumb approach, but without any particular allegiance, I generally pull for whatever clubs have Americans playing for them. Want those guys to succeed and help keep improving the national team.

That said, gun to my head - of the regular big money squads, I’ve always had a soft spot for Arsenal. Of the rest, when Norwich was up I pulled for them for some reason, but now don’t have a favorite. If Bolton ever made it back, tended to pull for them too due a friend being a lifelong fan.

My strategy was to pick a team in London, because I’d really like to go to a game someday, and London is obviously my best bet. I also chose Arsenal, for no real reason. My least favorite team is Liverpool, because of the Beatles.

Fulham, ā€œLondon’s Original Clubā€. My wife was born near London and family friends were always Fulham fans. When I was in England for the first time in 1998 I saw Fulham beat Bolton 4-2. Have been a fan since. Also a nice USMNT connection over the years with Eddie Lewis, Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride, among the multitude of Americans that have played for the club. Now they have Tim Ream and Antonee, not to mention a fantastic ground on the Thames in a great part of London.

Also, Fulham may never win the Prem, but at least when we yo-yo back and forth between the Championship we have a chance to win that! Fulham did it a few years ago and it was a lot of fun! So you don’t have to be rooted mid-table with not much to cheer for, you get to experience possible relegation (which is exciting) and then have a chance to celebrate trophies on the way back up! I don’t know how City fans can stand winning all the time, no drama.

Brighton is so much fun. Love how they find and develop young talent to sell for major profit too
