Oh man Teddy has to be up there as one of the GOAT voices. The ā€œI Miss Youā€ album is in my permanent rotation and I always go back to this live performance of ā€œBe For Real.ā€ The epitome of 70s soul.

Listened to these guys a bunch my first year.

A buddy saw them at Schafer Court in VCU in 1986 or so before anyone really knew who they were. Evidently, they melted faces in Richmond that day.

Why have i never heard of the Floaters? Awesome song. What time period did they play in? It had to be during the times when I was floating around a lot. Serious though im going to find some more of their songs.

Another all time favorite and generally representing everything Wu Tang.

Also the anthem of the NIL era.

  1. One-hit wonders. ā€œFloat Onā€ hit #1 in the UK but only got to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, first blocked out by Andy Gibb’s ā€œI Just Want to Be Your Everythingā€ and then by the Emotions’ immortal masterpiece ā€œBest of My Love.ā€

And for the record, NO IRONY THERE. ā€œBest of My Loveā€ is one of the most sublime singles of the '70’s.

Damn…you had to drop the CL Smooth…that’s one of my favorite old school jams…the hook might be a bit of a sellout but it gets me every time…just before it comes…you instinctively turn up the volume saying to yourself don’t hate me for loving this hook
