I really don’t think there’s almost anyone on here who doesn’t think Tony is a great coach and think he’s a great fit at UVA. There are folks who disagree with him on some things (e.g. redshirting, playing time allocation, etc.), but I think everyone wants him here as long as he’ll stay and love him. But it’s a message board - people are gonna talk about what they might do differently and so on, as that’s like 50% of interesting sports talk.

Been watching some Gertrude highlights, dude can absolutely fly. I agree with fresh though I have no clue what his role is / what position he is. I don’t think we’ve had a player like him before

Because there isn’t anyone here who doesn’t think he’s a great coach or that UVA is lucky to have him. It’s just the slow and continued LRA slide towards sabre-ization.

Closest I can think of is Darius Thompson. Casey Morsell but more athletic/quicker/his highlights at least show some catch and shoot corner 3s.
He’s Donovan Mitchell in my eyes. But he needs an on court identity to run with confidently

His athleticism is tremendous, but he has to develop the skills and consistency to go with it. In my completely amateur and unqualified opinion.
If you watch full games, not the highlights, he looks like he hasn’t played a lot of organized basketball. He doesn’t seem to know what to do a lot of times and while he has the potential to be a tremendous defender, right now his defensive fundamentals are absent. He doesn’t slide with his man and he gets beat on the dribble a lot, but he also tends to trail and block shots at times which is what makes the highlight reel.
There is a lot of great raw material to work with but there’s also a lot of coaching to be done.

I have no idea how much the Xavier mod knows, obviously hadn’t spent time over there, but they seem super confident maybe even hinting he gave a commit while on campus.because he hasn’t posted photoshoot pics.

The Duke mod unpinned the Power thread they had going. Normal does that when it would be replaced with newer info or when nothing is imminent. Based on what we think I see this as another confirmation as no one has any clue at this time. .

If a visit is scheduled with Green soon (and I mean the establishment of a date, not the actual visit takes place) then he probably hasn’t committed. If something isn’t put on the schedule by Aug 10, forget about it.
Don’t see this mentioned but Trey Green also just started following yann.edits. Hopefully he comes out with a top 5 or something but could be a commitment.

I would hope he does but if he doesn’t schedule another visit soon then it’s probably over.
I was thinking Tony would try to get something with him on the books before heading to Italy, maybe for opening weekend for football.

If a person believes Tony’s recruiting decisions are wrong, his recruiting approach is wrong, his scheme is wrong, his bench coaching decisions are wrong, can he still claim to believe Tony is a great coach?
At some juncture you have to look at the record and realize this guy gets it done, somehow. Frankly I am shocked at how well UVA has done considering the recruiting gap between UVA and the blue bloods, but Tony is right there in terms of winning.
I was making an observation, I might be the only one with that observation and that’s fine.

Obviously, Power and his camp keeps it as quiet as possible, but if he starts to trend towards elsewhere, the next options for the forward spot will be interesting to watch. Amadou’s UVA recruitment/offer never came to existence as we would’ve hoped. Think there’s more tea leaves to read for guards than forwards.

Yeah, my mistake. It was a thought when someone brought up the negative mojo thing on recruiting. It should not have been brought up.
It seems odd that Green would generate all this hype out of his Peach Jam play but then just quickly commit to Xavier who was already on him, instead of taking new visits

Sean Miller is a solid coach, probably has new bagmen, Xavier is a solid program, he might be able to start from day 1, and the whole wanting those who want you. Since they were on him since Sean Miller took over.
If I’m a bag man, Miller is the last person I would work with, how many bag men did he throw under the bus while at Zona?
