Wishful thinking on my end, but can’t help but feel like that’s wishful thinking on Xavier’s part
Also maybe he really wanted the UVA offer for validation more than really wanting to come here. Maybe a benchmark for him and always wanted X. Who knows
Probably like Buchanan with Gonzaga
I think he either commits before we get him on grounds, or we get him on grounds and have a really legit chance at him. We really need to throw the full court press at him though on the visit…. But if he waits long enough to take the UVA visit we have a chance to change things.
Agree here and with @JoeBoxley as I have said. Also hope thats the way TB Jay and O read it and differentiate the recruitment “heres what we see you as as a college player” and really outline it all and show him how he will get from here to there AT UVA. I have said the same to his HS coach and father
Jay told me first time he saw him in Philly that we have never had anyone like him. As Box said
For Elijah I really really want him to choose Virginia
I rather think we are already there…a shame…
Some recent Gertrude highlights.
Yeah, but it’s not for a lack of trying for the top recruits. I think it’s more the mindset of the 5-star that prevents that while their understanding that hard work on the defensive side is not their ticket to the pros (in their mind). Slow pace and sharing the ball all factor in. They said, I think he was very close to landing Keels & Jhuzang FWIW.
I’ve already commented on the negativity toward Bennett here and find it interesting that the masses here allow for the prevailing negativity toward CTB (because he doesn’t land 5-stars like Duke) and actually attack you for defending the program yet go full-blown Lord of the Flies on you should you dare oppose their group-think mob mentality.
Most of the recruiting articles don’t pass by anyone, right. I’m always sending messages to people to correct something, and vice versa. A lot of you have done the same for me. Always appreciated.
Bennett sees him as a lockdown perimeter defender. This will be his role.
Sorry, had to take care of some of my lengthy honey-do list before heading to Italy in two weeks.
Just wait Till @DFresh11 starts showing up at the gym!
Tongue was firmly in cheek, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still want the rest of the quote!
And I would take it another step. This past season might have been one of his better efforts. When you look at last season’s roster, there were obvious weaknesses. It would be pointless to go through and list them all, but a person might be inclined to suggest that Coach Bennett put that team together with chewing gum and baling wire. And, yet, that team still finished 21-14 (12-8) and sixth in the ACC. It is also worth noting that the same team which lost to Navy at home to open the seaon also won at Duke in February. There have been some obvious disruptions in the program since 2019, but things appear to be back on track now, and if 2022 is, or was, the low point, that says the Coach Bennett is doing a pretty spectacular job, IMO.
Man we need this Italy trip or maybe a commitment or something.
Getting kinda brutal to read threads around here.
Bunch of in fighting and people demanding to talk off topic. Brutal!
Catch y’all later.
It feels like a cruel joke sometimes to be a fan of recruiting in general and also be a fan of uva athletics. Not talking about on the court/field performance but boy there is very little intrigue when it comes to the recruiting and the football/basketball at uva.
If there wasn’t intrigue about bball recruiting then LRA wouldn’t exist …
I guess activity is a better way to phrase it.
No TJ Power in the staying alive section. We are doomed!
(Just kidding - I know there just hasn’t been much going on with him since he went radio silent so probably not much to update on)
Actually that’s a great point…I forget sometimes there are fans who will read into that lol Editing now.
