It’s Kon Knueppel. Its was also funny on the UNC board (while carousing for any TJ Power info) their mod was like “There is this kid Kon Knueppel in 2024 and he was an absolute monster” with his profile picture linked/the most unintimidating profile photo ever.
For you stat nerds. As much as I follow basketball and recruiting, the whole new era of stat obsession never clicked with me. Very much an eye test guy. No idea what these numbers mean
That would be pretty close to my list, I might have Trey and Elmarko as 2 and 3 because I believe we need a '23 point guard. I really am intrigued by Cosby Jr.
Yeah, I struggled with spots 2 through 4, but I just like what Cosby Jr brings to the table. He’s noted for his excellent defense and his three-point shooting, plus he’s 6’5. He’s also a Richmond kid, so that’d be the first time we landed a high level guy from there in forever. I don’t really care about that last point too much… but it also would be kind of cool to break that streak.
I truly do believe we will land a high-level point guard, either in '23 or '24, so I’m not worried about that yet. Maybe that’s ignorant of me, but we’ll see. I’m just going to wait to be frustrated by that position until it’s actually gone fully haywire.
Because I’m bored and a 500 player big board intrigued me:
101. Reece
113. Bond
151. Kihei
191. Dunn
208. Armaan
220. Jayden
342. McKneely
480. Traudt
489. BVP
Some interesting names/order…not that it means much at all
Were we surprised to not see more offers go out over the week? What would be the next timing window for possibly moving onto other options? Seems the focus for the summer now shifts to getting current targets to visit, rather than finding new targets.
Of the 2023 recruits, at the moment, I am most excited about Blake Buchanan. Shortly, I hope to be most excited by whomever commits next. After that, I hope to be most excited by one or two more recruits when they commit. Then, again, I’m easy!
Just uninformed speculation on my part, but perhaps the fact that few new offers have been extended is an indication of the staff’s confidence that there will be commitments from those already holding offers.
Honestly, no not that surprised. New offers have little to do with current recruits. The only connection is you spend more time looking for players you think you’ll have the need for. Point guards in UVA’s case. But looking and finding players you want are totally different things. The two guys they’ve offered more than earned it.
And not much comes later, at least not for the fall signing period. The last 11 years, UVA has signed two domestic players in fall with offers after September. Teven Jones and Kihei Clark. There’s an occasional swing at players who have decommitted or something’s happened to shake their recruitment up but any established player is moving forward in Sept. Either you’re recruiting them or you’re not.
Should add though we’re only a week removed. Not all offers resulting from July come immediately. Shedrick for example was offered in like mid August. Sometimes they take notice but really weren’t looking at someone, and eventually go ahead with it.
