Had dinner at Bar Tomas. Might not have been a great choice for the kids (though they’ve got outside seating set up, so there’s room to move around a little), but the food was fantastic.

Good question! Parking is probably their biggest issue and we thought maybe they were trying something different, but it didn’t seem any more efficient. We chatted with them a bit before we left (I’m trying to find someone to make a bunch of beignets for a thing, and Mary was like “Nope! And no idea who in town could do a good job.”) but forgot to ask.

Yeah I’ve been eating on leftovers for 2 days. That was a big hit it’ll be our go to pizza now. Glad to have the option of not having to go into town for non big branded fast food pizza.
What’s the go to? We did a pepperoni hot honey it was great.

Everything I ever tried at Crozet Pizza was baller AF. Except the t-shirts, they went cheap on those.

As someone who lives close to Crozet Pizza for almost 40 years, it’s a shadow of it’s former self. When Bob Crum, the original owner died, the Pizza has not been the same. His ability to make an excellent thin crust New York style pizza didn’t survive him. Dr. Ho’s is significantly better. There are several pizza places in the greater C’ville area that are much better.

A-Squared up near Forest Lakes is the new kid on the block; they do really good Detroit-style pizza.
Popito’s is coming downtown (old Umma’s space); they are somewhere in-between NY and Neapolitan.
Snagging a first seating at Lampo is still quite the pleasure (we even brought our toddler and it went totally fine).

I was late to the DHHP party, but made up for it in a big way my last year when a buddy and I decided to commute in from Scottsville.

I love Detroit-style so much I ship actual block cheese in from the Wisconsin to make it in my Ooni… but much better from a good pizzeria… only one that has a good Detroit-style pizza here in Southside Richmond is Sergios.

Little Caesars hasn’t swayed you with their massive NFL advertising blitz these past few years?
Edit: the frozen Motor City one at Costco is pretty decent for frozen pizza. But if you’re making your own in an actual pizza oven, that’s better.
I’ve been depressed since Big Jim’s closed. What a great old-school burger that was.

I delivered Little Caesars Pizza between Junior and Senior year in HS. No thanks. Do you remember Kristen and Jennie Bajnai from HS? Their dad owns ALL the Little Caesars in the Richmond area (at least he did in the 90s… not sure anymore).
EDIT: I just looked and he sold them all…
I wouldn’t have considered the pizza I had Friday night to be thin crust. I actually thought it was pretty heavy haha I could only eat a slice or 2 at a time.
I’ll have to try some of these other places. We just aren’t in town enough to hit pizza places. I think my favorite is a thin wood fired option.
