Rented a place on Plank Rd back in 2012 (heading towards 20 side, not heading towards Batesville side) and Dr. Hos was a 10 minutes drive, frequented a lot.

Prior to that, I had a number of Cville and North Garden friends who worked there under the previous owners. We would go often, sometimes stay after closing, pull the blinds and party down.

It was also a nice stop for a beer on the way out to Wayne’s Lanes when that was still around. $1 bowling, $2 shoe rental. Couldn’t beat that

I don’t recognize the names. I also don’t remember Little Caesars delivering or having independent storefronts back then. I think I only remember them inside of KMart and you could only order pizzas by the pair because their ovens were incapable of making single pizzas. My brother and I got breadsticks and sauce from there mainly.

Delivery didn’t start until 1995… I was delivering for them the first year they made it available.

I know I’m about to say something most won’t agree with, but I actually like Little Caesars when it’s literally out of the oven, fresh. Not sure what happens to it when it cools off and/or sits awhile but don’t like it all after the freshness is gone.

We used to have people order pizzas for delivery where they wanted us to make it, cook it and then put it in our walk-in freezer for 30 minutes before delivery. Super weird.

We ate Little Caesars all the time growing up. Was the closet pizza joint if you lived on Shadwell.

I actually still like it ad a cheap option but my wife refuses to let me buy it

I can remember back in the day - living paycheck to paycheck - when it was a real ā€˜treat’ when I brought ā€˜pizza pizza’ home. It was convenient and less expensive - and got the job done. Can’t remember the last time I had a slice, probably decades….

I will be in Italy next month and will be on the lookout for a few pies!

People like Secret Squares which is now in Churchill and exclusively makes Detroit style. I’ve had it, I just don’t like Detroit style.

And then apparently some chain called Emmy Squared opened in Short Pump.

I really want a Chicago bar pie / tavern style - the super thin cracker crust style. Anywhere in VA?

There’s one in Cville now too. It’s totally fine, pizza is solid and they have a pretty good Caesar salad.

Yeah, and I think a lot of Crozet Pizza 's longtime popularity and fame for 40+ years was Bob’s introduction of New York style pizza to the area. It’s not terrible now, but it’s not close to what it was for those of us who went to UVA back in the day. Meanwhile, there have been some really great pizza places here locally that have surpassed it. I’m happy you had a great experience! Crozet is a great area right now. I ran into Sean Singletary a couple of weeks ago.

Ah I gotchya. Yeah I wouldn’t have known any of that based off just going for the first time last week.

Replying to random things I’m with Hoohoohoo I don’t like Detroit style.

I haven’t had little Caesar’s since they did the 16 beats a 1 promo thing. Maybe I should move on from that

Tillis is my kind of guy, good taste.

I love eating at the Cicchetti bar, pretty cool that they serve the full menu there. Went there last week at like 9:30 on a lark and TB was finishing up dinner at the table behind me.

Must be a pretty regular occurrence, saw him with Laurel, Ritchie McKay, and his spouse eating there a few months ago. Good stuff

Peter Chang’s China Grill closing this month - Cville Right Now

Reddit detectives saw that there’s a permit application in for "Interior renovation of an existing restaurant to a new restaurantā€ so there’s something that will be there.

I’m sad to see them go, their scallion puff pancakes remain an iconic part of my kids’ childhoods. But, honestly, they’ve been coasting on past glory for years.

This is just a rumor BUT was told yesterday that Peter Chang’s is closing but will reopen after a full renovation of the space. Story I got was Peter was not pleased with the condition of the space so he told landlord he wanted more money for TI and they agreed.

Space wasn’t in good shape for sure and they’ve been uneven at best food wise. I honestly thought Peter had moved on to other projects, so good to hear that he might still be involved.

@BillyHoyle Do you know what’s going into the old Blue Moon Diner space?
