I’m a fan of breakfast and lunch there. And sourdough donuts. They are doing sandwiches all day now, which is great.
We are kinda loaded with bakeries in town so it’s fierce competition for the top (Cou Cou Rachou is my current pick)

Mariebette is as good as ever for the take-out bakery stuff, but I haven’t done dine-in in forever (and it was always underwhelming) and the line on weekends is Bodo’s-grade long so I go there less and less. Cou Cou Rachou is fantastic, though and has better muffins and such, imo.

Agree on MarieBette, though it’s a sneaky good business lunch place cause you can actually get a table. Petite good for a take out as well.
But yeah, Cou Cou is next level. Especially with the weekend drops that hit at certain times, if they’ve got a special beignet I’m there. Best espresso out of the bakeries too.

Now I’m feeling Mono Loco nostalgia, thanks @BillyHoyle. Also…is that location kinda cursed? Post-Mono Loco, it was a Moe’s BBQ location for a hot sec (meh). Then was Umma’s for a while (loved it, RIP). Now it’s a 2nd Popito’s location, which I checked out last week and was disappointed in (especially since I liked my past Popito’s experience in Rio Hill).

Was Umma’s a Korean place? Umma means mom in Korean, but I know it can mean a lot of other things in other languages too.
As @BillyHoyle mentioned - loved the Margaritas there! Miss that place.

I’d say either Millie’s (15 min drive west) or La Tejana (could probably walk but would be 10 min drive east).
Millie’s is great vibes, definitely kid friendly and has a nice patio. Good tacos / quesadillas.
La tejana is super budget friendly less kid friendly. Great breakfast tacos, think it’s like 3/$14

Not my area of expertise (both 2 year olds and that neighborhood), but the Duke’s counter there by the zoo is probably going to be tough to beat in a proximity:quality metric. They have an awesome burger.
Rose Ave Bakery is also a good move for a quick bite.
Federalist Pig isn’t too far either if BBQ speaks to you

Medium-Rare is a short walk and does brunch. I haven’t been in over a decade - but it’s fun if you like steak frites (and French toast). It’s casual French cafe vibes during brunch if I recall.
I believe that location is the one that states them all.

Not to derail the DC chat, but to return to CVille, wanted to share that we were back in town for the Miami game and found that whiskey jar still slaps. We ate there 10-15 years ago when it was new and really enjoyed, so I was worried that current quality wouldn’t measure up. Not sure it was as good as it was back then, but definitely an excellent meal.
The tap list was not as good, but strong cocktail game – whiskey sour was excellent.

Have also heard great things about 2 Amy’s (pizza place) but I’ve never personally been. There’s also an amazing bakery up there but I don’t remember the name
