Khani Rooths to Michigan. Juwan Howard building a nice little DMV pipeline.
Terrance Williams is still a pretty miserable player and I remember we were giving him a look out of HS as well

Travis Perry to Kentucky. Interesting. Knew that was his preferred spot but didnāt think Kentucky pushed hard for him.
Dug McDaniel has looked really good to start this year. Was a former dream recruit of mine before fully understanding how little chance we have with kids coming out of PVI.

I know why Dylan Harper committed to Rutgers ā brother went there, wanted his grandparents to see him play, etc.
But why did Ace Bailey commit there? I donāt see any easily recognizable NJ or even Northeast connection (nor even Big Ten / Midwest for that matter). Was he buddies with Harper somehow, and this was pre-baked from the jump?
Trilly took his game and he had to pivot
Thereās been a serious turnover in the recruiting media industry whatever you call it in recent years. Not many of the big names from 5 years or so are still left. Only 3. The old pro Eric Bossi, Paul Biancardi at ESPN, and the NBA is coming for Adam Finkelstein any time.
Corey Evans-NBA
Andrew Slater-NBA
Evan Daniels-now an agent
Jerry Meyer-retired
Josh Gershon-NBA
Brian Snow-Notre Dame
Rob Harrington-left the business
Dan McDonald-Kennesaw State
Iām sure there are others Iāve forgotten
Slater was the goat though in all sincerity. I get that some people didnāt like the twitter persona but you really have no idea. He was the guy everybody turned to for intel. Just a really good dude too. He and Corey Evans were the MJ and Lebron of the game, a level of their own.
The path to ascension is there HGN. When you make your move, donāt forget us little guys on LRA.
Time for the next generation of stars, HGN and Trilly!
Dave Telep, Spurs
Dave Telepās Carolina Challenge and the Pro-Am at NCCU going away were (IMO) the biggest blows to following basketball recruiting in NC.
Glad to see Dave is doing big things like discovering unknown Frenchmen basketball players. Heard they found a gem that no one knew about that just had a 20-20 game lol
I rabbit-holed a little bit on Overtime Elite today (for reasons), and am kinda confused. They have more teams now, but some of their teams are also existing basketball-focused schools rebranded? STAB played against Moravian Prep earlier this month, but a bunch (all?) of their guys are also OTE guys on this team:
So the OTE teams are kinda like club teams in some ways? Am I getting that right?
I believe so? Moravian Prep, Combine, and Word of God are in the OTE league (they go by a different name)
Big man from the NBA Academy is reclassifying up to 2024. I could see him ending up at Duke next year. Especially with Patrick Ngongba injured, they might not be able to count on him right away. I watched a couple NBA Academy games when they played in the AAU event in Las Vegas over the summer. Maluach is legit. He got the better of Flory Bidunga.
Wanna preface this with I very much still prefer Jacob Cofie given our roster needs. But if Neptune gets canned at the end of the season and or it goes south, I wonder if Hodge would pop up and if we would be interested. Cofie and Hodge both spacing the floor and Robinson bringing that athletic punch long term.
VJ Edgecombe to Duke on Sunday it looks like.
Their projected starting 5 is going to be McCain, Foster, Edgecombe, Flagg, Maluach.
Kon gonna be fighting Peach Jam MVP Darren Harris and Isaiah Evans for first guard off the bench.
Also looking around, it could be an interesting offseason with kids we were previously involved with becoming available.
Recruiting calendar changes official.
It basically reads: āLess high school recruiting but lets be real HS kids suck vs the portal anyways. But, oh look you can go recruit at international events nowā
Really embracing the portal by eliminating the april events/only events after transfer window closed.
Yeah weāll see what happens but we will have an obvious hole to fill at the 4 spot for a potential transfer. Not sure we have room for much else.
