Losing in the first or 2nd round is last.
Only if that’s your arbitrary definition of success. But our problem in the tournament hasn’t been the quality of competition we’ve faced, its health
Just the NCAAT. Winning the regular season ACC is awesome, but there’s very little correlation between winning ACCT and doing well in the NCAAT. Can make the argument it’s better to lose early in the ACCT, like we did in 2019.
Auburn could argue that they win the NCAAT if they hadn’t lost Okeke in the Sweet16 vs UNC (even though they beat Kentucky without him). Texas Tech could argue a healthy Tariq Owens gives them the natty over us. Of course, health matters, but it’s not like other teams don’t have the same type of issues to deal with.
Figured as much. Hokies tried though. Surprised he didn’t thank Traudt for creating the opportunity for him to land with the Zags.
Why is there a natty in the edit? They ain’t got one!
You know how coaches used to put chairs out to represent defenders? Zags just put Timme out there. Remarkably similar.
Can’t go wrong with Holtmann or Oats.
It was down to Ohio State and Georgia Tech in the end apparently.
Well he made the right choice in that case. Holtmann is a future Final Four coach.
Not as dialed in to recruiting as most of this board. But on the whole, I’d love to know the process that gets a player to narrow down to VT and Gonzaga. At first look I feel like you can’t find 2 programs further apart in every way. Seems odd both would be considered in the breath.
Both have farms near campus? That’s all I got.
Yea man. Thats like having Arkansas State and Virginia in your final 5…
LOL as I typed that I legit thought of you.
That OV to Jonesborough though!
Speaking of Tech they’re now saying there’s optimism Rice is committing here soon. Lville board thinks he slipped away. Wouldn’t mean much to me if Rice committed to Tech but I’ve been holding out hope Tech just completely strikes out on plan A targets so I have an excuse to laugh at them. They get Rice and Clowney and that’s an elite class by their standards
Rice is definitely a good get for them. I think Jones can coach but we’ve seen what happens trying to compete in the ACC if you don’t consistently recruit top guys. The talent level falls off a bit
There aren’t anymore Wofford transfers, they had to hire Rice’s high school coach to get him, and they can’t dodge 8 of their toughest 9 conference games this season.
Tech’s optimism will quickly fade. Their ceiling is probably NCST levels of success?
I just can’t see an ACC school that far removed from metropolitan areas finding sustained, top level success.
But what do I know?
If Buzz had stayed at VT they could have sustained tourney success I think. But alas if any coach has success at Tech I think they bounce to the next big thing (which is any school without a barnyard arena).
