Who was the commit by the way?
Nick Smith, from Little Rock.
He could’ve at least kept the beat. LOL!
Muss is a treasure! Need coaches willing to show some personality is such a buttoned up sport.
Is this the Arkansas equivalent of Williford’s, “It’s a great day to be a Hoo!” tweets in celebration of a commitment?
Yupp. I think he makes a new video for each one
Jamie in another tweet implying he might be going to Kanye West’s new school. All I know is that he is definitely not going to UNC. With Slater hinting overtime and College Dropout being a GOAT tier Kanye album

Have to imagine we won’t have any targets there but it would be hilarious to see a Tony-Kanye interaction

This video is… clown show time… the popping of champagne like they won an nba championship was just comical…
Sorry, but this is superrrrr lame
Uhhh, it’s a prop plane. CTB takes a jet. Speaks for itself, doesn’t need the faux coolness.
Stop
Wait a minute
Fill my cup, put some liquor in it
Take a sip, sign a check
Julio, get the stretch
Ride to Harlem, Hollywood, Jackson, Mississippi
If we show up, we gon’ show out
Smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy
Muss = Bruno Mars
CTB = Mark Ronson
In the past two days both Alabama and Arkansas signed five star recruits. I am going to beat this drum to death but the SEC is benefitting magnificently from their football/TV money. Doesn’t portend good things for the rest of the ACC
I will continue to believe that in the SEC….basketball is just something do in the winter till the spring game… until I see otherwise… NIL or not the SEC was always paying players the NIL money is nothing new to the equation…we will see if Muss and Oates are the real deal soon enough…coaching and building a winning program on OADs is no easy task…
Doesn’t matter how much the fans pay attention if the programs win. Arkansas was a three seed last year and Alabama was a two. Our national title year, Kentucky and Tennessee were two seeds, LSU a three, MS State a five and Auburn a five who made the final four. And this has been during a “down” period for Kentucky. With Texas joining, they’ll be getting another top notch coach in Beard. The balance of power is shifting rapidly
Yawn… stop cherry-picking… how many nattys has the sec won in basketball in the last 10 years…one? or is it nada….… as I said I will believe it when I see it… the SEC getting high seeds is not concerning to me… no more than the Big 12 getting high seeds as well…
Yea just look at the new hires they’ve made over the last few years compared to the ACC.
I hate you being right here, but you are. NIL is also a game changer to allow them to legally do what they’ve been doing for years. No academic standards and that most teams play a free flowing AAU style is going continue to make waves. As CTB mentioned on Goodman’s pod some teams have simplified their recruiting pitch to NIL NIL NIL, like every team in the SEC not named Vandy.
Yeah, look where all the hot young coaching names are going - SEC and BIG. It doesn’t matter if football is king, they make so much money off football and their TV contracts they can also pay more for basketball coaches and players and have nicer facilities. It’s going to be a problem.
To be clear I don’t think it’s a problem for us as a program. As long as we keep sending guys to the NBA we will be fine. But for the ACC this is a huge problem
I’m a little bit worried about the ACC slipping, too. And I also see the SEC with some good young-ish coaches at schools with a lot of potential. And heck, Arkansas has a decent amount of hoops history. Did fans show up back in the 40 minutes of hell era? I don’t know, but I suspect so.
Part of this could be circumstances / current events / cyclical. I think K and Roy were both on the decline recently, which is why they’ve retired / planned to retire. But that also happened in a period (last two years) when we were good but not 2014-19 great, and the ACC middle class turned to mush (ND, NC State, VPI coaching change). Louisville is also in the midst of its awkward post-Pitino phase. FSU filled the gap admirably, but they can only do so much, plus they seem capped at sub-final 4. GT had fun last year, but seems like a blip, tbh.
Another factor is that the yuge ACC is really bad for some of the bad bottom dwellers that were actually good in a smaller ACC or in a more sensical geographic regional conference (Wake, BC, Pitt).
AND this all happened when we upped the conference schedule by 2 games and took away at least one high major noncon game.
None of this is irreversible, and I think we will keep sparring with the SEC as best conference in the East (a notch above the Big East), and I don’t know what it all means in the larger picture, and I can’t predict the future so good, but all in all I prefer a year like 2016 when we finish second in the ACC reg and tourney, but are a final 4 caliber team nationally, than a year like last year, when we won a pretty down ACC. In short, I don’t think the ACC is in much risk of becoming the Nova of the Big East, nevermind the Zags of the WCC, but all in all, I really hope the ACC improves.
