On the @Hooandtrue wishlist front, there is this kid on Ty Davis and William Jobe’s aau team that is balling out recently. Has an Alabama offer. Maybe a solid alternative target if Kon Knueppel stays midwest? From Georgia. If we give William Jobe a look Tony will see this kid too.
Claims to have a 42 inch verticle
Maybe the next Christian Braun? Was injured/missed some time recently so still a little under the radar
Edit: it appears a few national scouts have started tweet about him/mentioning how his injury kept him under the radar. Has recently had a 47 pt and 38 pt outburst in scholastic games
Edit2: The @Hooandtrue dream recruits list has shrunken noticeably after aau/hs games
Matt Hodge, Devon Pryor, David Punch, Will Moore (the kid above). Only these 4.
That’s literally it at the moment. Isaiah Otyaluk and Jaiden Glover no more. Watching Bliss play, I get why he’s the preference over someone like Ty Davis but still have a soft sport for the kid. Also high school kids in general suck and they need to realize they suck so they can get better, instead of saying “Imma go to the league” when they clearly have shown nothing to support that
Recruiting is funny…it’s all a delayed reaction. In April, nobody’s really evaluating exactly…they’re just following up on players they had already planned on. Like with us and Christian Bliss. But from here on it turns into the guys who emerged in spring. Next month there will be all these stories on “summer risers” “late bloomers” “July blowups” But if you check just about every one of them will have been kicking high major recruits asses in April…it just takes until summer for them to get high major coaches to come.
Feels like this one is going to be over soon. I’m predicting Providence. I think they’re about to get his AAU teammate Daquan Davis.
Providence head coach Kim English (+ an assistant) along with UConn head Coach Dan Hurley (+ an assistant) are court-side for @pvihoops and 4⭐️ Saf Isaiah Abraham (@iamzzayy) #DMVLivehttps://t.co/rNSitKyzRr
At least in this case it was UVA that decided to end the recruitments. Abraham interview that came out last night all but confirmed UVA is no longer contacting him
Dear Recruits,
If you are going to feature a coach’s clapping game in your edit and you didn’t choose UVa, the Virginia video edit crew would like a word. Thank you [fade to bus exit montage].
Between Abraham and Williams, is Cooley or Kim whatshisname getting the better DC forward prospect? (Is Kim getting Abraham? That’s my working assumption)
Also, by the way, so now we are gonna have to beat out Providence if we ever want a DC area kid?
Neither of them have been great. I think Williams is the bigger win for Georgetown cause Caleb Williams and his family seem very connected to the DC recruiting circles.
I now want play and beat Georgetown big time… I’m not liking these up and coming coaches like Nate Oats, Eric Musselman and now Cooley who seem to be doing something “unnatural” to land these recruits….yes I know Cooley isn’t a new coach but he didn’t have this kind of pull so quickly with Providence.
And Georgetown is a direct threat to our location. I want these recruits parents to look at Tony crushing Georgetown and understand that they effed up!
Yeah, even if one can say they are showing role player skills, you don’t actually want your power conference role players to look like role players at lower levels, that’s not really a good sign.
It’s not unnatural what these programs are doing anymore. Also they run really player friendly offenses and get guys to the nba (Muss and Oates specifically) so it’s not that hard to figure out. Big paycheck+fun system+nba track record= attractive to big time recruits
