Outside UVa Recruiting

I mean thats not the main reason. These programs are open about having millions to wirk with for roster construction. Regardless there isnt a ton of overlap between muss and Tony recruits.

I think Georgetown has $3 million for its roster.

Provided you never want to see midrange offense. (Mind you, I might’ve signed up for that after the midrange debacle that was our 21-22 offense, but with the benefit of some distance from that trauma, no midrange isn’t so aesthetically pleasing either)

Not aesthetically pleasing to us but it’s very aligned with where the modern nba is. Again this just isn’t that hard to figure out

No midrange? Not sure I agree, but frankly I don’t know enough to coherently disagree. KD relies on the midrange, right? Jokic?

Is “this” why Muss and Oats are getting great talent? Yeah, I agree. Not hard to figure out. Lots of football/ Tv money sloshing through those programs and they finally made a decision in the last ten years or so to focus on hoops. They hit on solid coaches who are good recruiters. And then the advent of NIL just put rocket fuel on various trends.

Did anyone see the numbers of how bad Miller was at the rim? (Tangent). It apparently wasn’t just the UNC game debacle. He wasn’t good at the rim…. I’m not really generally a big Schaedunfreuede guy, but it does make me chuckle how profoundly awful MJ is at talent identification.

RIP Hooandtrue’s dream

My dreams died when I was a child. I only still entertain the concept of “dreams” because of some silly hope still left in me.

Sounds like it’s Creighton for Ty Davis.

Is there some way in which this benefits us or is it just more pain?

One thing I appreciate about UVA is they’ve still managed to get transfer decisions from players quickly. We haven’t had these late soap operas. But it’s also a two way street. Product of how Bennett manages his roster. Quinerly’s transfer seemed inevitable. They basically didn’t give him a spot to return to, filled his shoes with incoming transfers even though I don’t think there was much chance of staying in the draft. It’s like they used his testing it as an excuse to push him out.

Completely agree. Nice to feel like the coaches are competent and thoughtful. Having flashbacks to Gillen and his timeouts now.

Yeah I’m glad Tony doesn’t do that. With that being said, I have basically no sympathy for Quinerly because I’m petty. Would love to see him in Memphis so Reece can cook him.

Nah he is a good dude that got caught up in the recruiting hype. Proly should have toughed it out at Nova after not choosing UVa.

Great student too that considered Stanford

How he has eligibilty I have no idea

Hooz123 has his timeline a little off… Played his true freshman year at Nova 2018-19. Transferred to Bama and redshirted (back when a sit-out transfer was still a thing) 2019-20. Played three seasons at Bama, the first of which (2020-21) was the exempt COVID year. So last year was his 5th year in college, his traditional RS Sr year. Next year will be his COVID bonus year, making him effectively a 6th year RS SR+.

Can’t wait until the COVID exemption years are done. Can’t understate how much I dislike them. And yes, I know UVA is using them (Kihei, BVP, Jayden last year, Minor and Groves this year), and my thought there is we might as well because everyone else is and I don’t want to fall behind on principle when it’s within the rules. I just wanted the rule never implemented for anyone in the first place.

And also, @Hooz123 , the “I bet we’ll see his mugshot” is unnecessary. In his 5 years at Nova and Bama, there’s never been any reports of him being a bad kid. His mom took a bag from Sean Miller when he was a 16-year-old HS kid… if you want to keyboard-warrior rage against him for that, 6 years later no less, that says way more about you than it does about him.

Think he was out a year injured too

Also, what if his mom never got the bag?
