Recruiting-High Stakes September

Montana State is a sneaky contender

A factoid for you: Jerod Haase was on the '95 Kansas team Virginia defeated in the Sweet 16 that year. He was 1 for 6 from the floor and scored 5 points in roughly 34 minutes of playing time.

If he likes to play basketball and fly fish for trout, Montana State wouldn’t be that bad of a choice!

In all my years of following UVa hoops…the good years of Holland, Jones (at first) and now Bennett…the not so good years of Gillen & Leitao…I can honestly say I can never remember us being listed along with Montana State for anyone.

…Not even a peep about Taine’s decision?? No one willing to put in their CB pick? Lol
This is so weird. Normally we all but know where a recruit is going.

The only thing I’be seen today is a cryptic message from the Czar on the Sabre. Seems like a hint good news is coming but I may be reading it wrong.

Same way I read it. Seems to indicate we’ll be the choice.

I would assume the coaches would be informed by now

Oh there’s no doubt that all the staffs know…but no one else knows?? Lol really? Not a single CB pick or ā€˜insider’ spilling the beans.
Must be because Taine’s an international recruit. More unknowns.

And SeeattleHoos posted a cryptic message. He pretty much only posts when a recruit is about to commit.

Noticed that also. Gotta hope these guys know something that’s in our favor.

They’ve had the inside info several times in the past and I don’t recall any misses.

Maryland mod, Ermann, now finally entering acceptance period of his recruiting reporting with a post stating, in essence, ā€œsounds like UVa, no need to stay up for Murray’s Instagram post.ā€

He does this same pattern for every recruitment. There were like 8-10 grad transfers / reclassifications at the end of spring/beginning of summer that he had semi-daily updates about Maryland leading only to supposedly lose out at the very end.

Which is why I’ve thought from the beginning he didn’t really know what was going on besides having a UMd-centric source and trying to build intrigue to their fanbase. It’s crazy they still buy it given how many times they’ve had the rug pulled out. Even now, I don’t trust him beyond assuming he’s heard from a source that UMd has been notified they weren’t the pick.

It’s funny that we went from being an afterthought in his eyes to potentially the pick. I honestly think it’s mostly due to CTB keeping everything so silent that the recruitniks think we have no chance whereas sources from other schools are constantly talking. I seriously doubt Murray or his decision-making circle were tipping their hand.

It’s the 247 way basically, he’s just an extreme example of it. Get clicks/subscriptions today, worry about tomorrow later. There’s always a next shiny object. Maybe their football crew is better but the basketball is pretty bad. Oakes is solid for the UVA site. He gives most fans what they want, in a fair way. Overall though, 247 is pure style over substance. Very little talk, or understanding in most cases, of the hows and whys. in fact, it seems to be purposely avoided. Complicates their job.

Looks like Ermann decided to follow-through on that forum post

If Taine is UVA bound, that means Keels is going to Duke following the logic that UVA is the logo on the right in Taine’s top 3 announcement and Duke is all the way on the right in Keels’ photo. (But forreal Keels come be the Brogdon to Taine’s Joe Harris if Murray is coming)
