I think McNeely has, in fact, been offered – our only 22 offer – at least per Wahoos 24/7. They say he was offered on July 14.
Those were in error I believe. NC State and Indiana have offered. But we havent. We were mentioned in the article with 3 schools reaching out the most to him (Us, Indiana, NC State) so they must have added the offer. The only publicly known offer was to 2021 reclass Caleb Houstan I believe
Gotcha – just reporting what’s currently reported on 24/7. If it’s wrong, bad on them!
I seen that also but I’m almost positive that Houstan is the only offer. Hope we offer him pretty soon though
Verbal Commits is by far the best source for tracking scholarship offers. In particular for Virginia. The coaches check it and clean up mistakes. It’s often the first thing a recruit looks at, so it’s in their interest to keep it straight.
It’s so empty after 2021 Ha. Also in a typical recruiting cycle how many kids do we usually offer? I know we are not Maryland giving them out like candy, and Tony likes to hold on before offering. Or does it just depend and were there years where we offered everyone?
It’s slowly gotten very tight with offers from the 2019 class on. I’ve talked about it before. The line between evaluation and recruiting used to be very clear. Not so much anymore. They now often are recruiting a player before an offer is handed out. Think Trey Kaufman, or what’s going on with Deebo Coleman right now. Whereas in the past, offers were handed out when players were deemed worthy and then they’d figure out how, or sometimes if, to recruit the player.
Got it. Maintaining this two deep philosophy you noticed (recruiting 2 players for each position of need or want) like currently with Big Guard (Keels, Murray) or big/forward (Kaufmen, Reid) and them having people rotate in once someone on the one or two line bounces, right?
Yeah that’s related, new in '21. I think that was only intended through Spring while the recruiting period was open, meaning coaches visiting schools. Point was to limit offers to players TB could recruit himself. First time ever he went to see everyone with an offer, or even anything approaching a majority.
Is his brother Matt at JMU?
yeah.
Anybody else having problems viewing the videos in the embedded tweets above? They work fine on mobile for me, not on desktop.
the video in the one from Tre Jackson works for me on desktop. Using Microsoft Edge browser.
Thanks @jegelfand. Just tried Edge, all good there. I’m probably missing some Chrome update. lol
Dook gets another rental that won’t help them win a title.
That guy is a total beast. I see Rivals has Patrick Baldwin ranked 1st and Paolo 2nd. And I don’t necessarily disagree because Baldwin is a no doubt really good pro. But Paolo will be a MUCH bigger problem at Duke.
Shaping up to be a monster class for Duke. With Baldwin Jr. looking like he’s headed there and the smoke surrounding Keels, I could see it getting ugly for the good guys.
Huge recruiting pick up for Duke. So much for the Tennessee vibes from the recruiting experts LOL. Also love that Henry Coleman has yet to even play a game and he is already recruited over. Who could have seen this coming…
