This might be my favorite version of WFS_HOO.
I think they see their 4-star FR Raleigh Burgess as playing some PF, not just C (based on a Purdue blog I saw), so maybe that’s an obstacle? Painter also DGAF about telling guys they have early opportunities to play, like with the guy who’s now at BYU that he sent away after he asked for playing time assurances.
Welp
Coach Kyle Guy better get on the first flight to Sydney to start scouting oceania prospects
Please no. This is completely fine and I really hope we pocket this scholarship. We have a great core in place, let’s keep the scholarship in case the right transfer comes along.
Cam Ward or portal if need be. That or make a last second pivot to Dillan Shaw would be nice lol.
Funny enough Shaw revealed his top 4 today as well (West coast recruitment)
Feels like a nice recruiting win for Collins.
Eff dook.
Yeah, Singleton would be a “nice to have” but I feel like we could get a comparable player in the portal in the Spring.
Eh he’s pretty damn good. This is a manageable loss but still a loss.
Northwestern’s Rival board is reporting Tre Singleton to Northwestern.
I’m just more annoyed about losing a recruiting battle to Northwestern. I mean… bleh.
Yes, look like 10 posts up
If Virginia doesn’t get a PF commitment from the 2025 class, there is no reason to resort to the transfer portal next spring. There is both depth and youth at the position, and, presumably, talent. Just save the scholarship to use in 2026. At this time, there are no pressing needs for the roster. It’s in good shape.
Oops! I only looked up half a dozen. If I had to guess, I’d say early playing time was a major consideration.
The silver lining is that Singleton spurned Louisville while basically shitting all over them academically, which is always good to see (and warranted)!
As for us and forward recruiting, I’m less concerned than I was a few months ago. It’s a small sample size but based on the little bit I’ve seen and heard, I believe Power can definitely play the 3 and Cofie can play the 4. They can obviously play the 4 and the 5, respectively, as well. But being able to log minutes at the 3 and the 4 gives us some quality roster balance as it relates to those positions.
I guess Singleton would have been nice, but this is a big “meh” to me. I don’t think he would have made an immediate impact next year, we’ve got depth, and this leaves open a scholarship to use for Ward (maybe) or Ament (wishfully), or to pocket for a transfer or 2026. Not a big loss. Depending on how things turned out, maybe not even a loss at all.
It would be hilarious to whiff on Singleton and then have things break right for us in the spring to land Ament.
100 percent on pocketing for now assuming we don’t get Ward. If Ament somehow lands, awesome. Otherwise, wait until spring/summer
