Dre was NABC DPOY

Here is some trivia, the Homer statue on the lawn was originally commissioned by one of the founding partners of wall street mainstay law firm Simpson Thacher. It was then sold to a southern segregationist/“lost cause” promoter who gave it to UVA, his alma mater

Yeah, was going to mention DA. Only at UVa would the National DPOY get left off the top 5 list, and it be hard to argue against who is in front of him.

I loved Darion Atkins so much, way before his MSU comments. So smooth around the rim, great touch. Awesome defensive instincts. I thought he should’ve got more burn earlier in his career at UVa. Glad he stuck it out.

Commissioned by Simpson and was supposed to be a gift to Amherst College, but they didn’t want it, so we got a second hand statue.

Reading about the story, I was afraid that the Lost Cause guy that got the statue was the guy we named Page dorm after, but two totally different guys named Page thankfully.

The UVA basketball experience is having someone say “Ryan Dunn is the best defender in the country” to which you respond by saying “he very well could be… but are we sure he’s the best defender on the team?”

My reaction to this is like the State Farm commercial where the football player starts convulsing in the locker room because his mind is blown by bundling.

Since the ACC DPOY has typically been an award teams could only nominate one player for, the biggest hurdle to winning the award for Reece and RD might be the internal vote haha.

Reece can have ACCDPOY and RD can have NDPOY

Huh, I thought Thybulle’s STL% was a little higher. That being said, Thybulle’s full-season % was higher, but it went up for him during conference play so maybe it was lower for the first 7 games.

Thybulle was an absolute defensive buzzsaw, and that Dunn is roughly matching him in steals while smoking him in blocks (and Thybulle was an exceptional shot blocker for a guard/wing) is stunning.

MT was a mirage though… he literally didn’t have to guard anyone all year - they played amoeba zone D and he just roamed around all game.

We’ll see how this ages but I think the defensive comparison for Dunn is elite as it gets: young LeBron James. Seriously go and watch some 18-20 year old highlights of LeBron and tell me RD isn’t the closest thing you’ve seen to him on that end. Not quite as powerful but the way Dunn runs people down is similar

Heard Dunn printed this comment and tacked it on his ceiling. You’re welcome fam.

Don’t feel bad…I had no idea why we would take Akil Mitchell when we already had James Johnson & Will Regan committed. Or why we’d recruit Huff when we had SKJ.

Mentioned somewhere else recently, but that Perkiomen team was really good. Xaivian Lee is Princeton’s leading scorer as a sophomore, and they’re top 50 in KenPom. Haugh is getting legit run at Fla. Dunn was one of their more important players but I think he was dinged up for a while and would come off the bench. Ironically , the guy who took most of his minutes has not turned into one of their better players. Preist Ryan?

Lol imagine being wrong. Imagine typing something that ages so poorly. Shame on you.
