His form isnt terrible until the very end where he looks like hes unsure how to finish the shot. He is so long everywhere he just has lots of moving parts. Will take lots and lots of shots to get more comfortable
On FTs he brings the ball right up in front of his face whcih is not ideal
Also his release point is extremely high. Like 8 feet or whatever. Kind of the opposite of compact
It almost looks like his wrist and hand are playing catch up with the rest of his arm movements when he’s using them on the court. That works great when you’ve got a huge wingspan and going for a block, but not so much when you are trying to have a compact, consistent shooting form.
Is exactly that. He sorta pauses as he gets full reach and flicks it there. Also looking at fotos he really has the ball on his finger tips. Proly little too much
Speaking of compact shots, the person who has the most compact shot is Nijel Pack. He has no wasted motion and gets it off pretty quickly which he needs to do for a guy his size. Even though it doesn’t “look” fluid as it seems almost like a push shot, it’s still very effective (outside of our game of course).
Another smaller guard that has an *ideal shot which is fluid is RJ Davis. He has the most *ideal shot, especially for his size. Now I know that Dunn isn’t the size of these two guys and he’s longer and ganglier 
but maybe some of our other guards can use this technique to become more efficient- ie: Dante Harris.
Yep!- In addition he seems to rush his freethrows in order to get it out of his hands. I remember when players used to want to “hold their pose” whether it was free-throws or shooting during play. I think a *follow through motion can be very helpful to revisit for Dunn and other guys like Reece so that they can allow their hands/wrists/arms to catch up with each other in order to guide their shots.
With that said- Reece looks MUCH better on his freethrows and a bit better on his threes this season so far.

Has to be psychological on top of the growth spurt screwing up his form. Hilarious that we recruited him in part because of his 3pt shooting, and he’s going to be a possible lottery pick in spite of him being a poor shooter
Yep. Was supposed to be a wing sniper and turned into a national D player of the year candidate who is a good garbage/hustle guy on offense but can’t shoot a lick. I’m predicting he tests waters but then comes back. His draft stock is gonna go down once teams evaluate his shooting. The D without the 3 doesn’t make for a first rounder.
We are all going to internalize that as a lesson on the limits of predicting future performance when we talk about future recruits, right?

Looks like he rolls his fts off his palm. Wonder if that is nervousness about the impending disaster. Surely the staff is discouraging that. Would like to see what his shot looks like when he is alone in the gym.

Dunn will be a high draft pick based on his defense alone. One scout described his defense as once in a generation.. His shooting has caused him to drop some in the draft. At one time he was almost a universal choice to be in the lottery
I threw it out earlier this year but Dunn is like young LeBron defensively. Same gait. Same chase down blocks. Active hands. He’s going to be all defense in the NBA if his offense is passable enough to get on the court

I’ve said before that if Ryan could shoot in the high 30’s from 3, and 70+ at the FT line, he’d be the #1 pick in this draft.
if he shot in the low 30s from 3 on any sort of volume, he’d be top 5
