⛹ Ryan Dunn - Official Thread

Groves type. We have Cofie Robinson and Bond (who even though is undersized is long and athletic and mobile).

What we don’t have is proven 3pt shooting in the front court which is vital.

Um…London Jemison.

Or the best shooting/skill forward blow up that we can get to sign after the early AAU sessions.

Agree. I like the current roster and recent commits a lot, but a front-court floor-stretcher is something we’re still lacking. Unless Sharma grows like 4" this year.

Yeah, another vote for a shooter. Already have pretty good frontline athleticism, and also adding Gertrude to the rotation as another guard with decent size.

Shooting 4. Then you have Bond as the small ball athletic 4 and Cofie who sort is a hybrid l(can stretch the floor some and a good athlete).

I’ll vote for a shooter too but if we could get a player who can do on defense what Dunn does I would take him. How many points does he save us on defense?

A game? Prolly 10+.

I’ll be the contrarian here. I’d want to replace Dunn’s athleticism. Sam Hauser was a great stretch 4, and we had our worst defense that year. (Not all Hauser’s fault, of course.) Think of who played the 4 on our best teams, and they were all critical parts of our defense: Wilkins, Mamadi, Braxton. Outside of Hauser, I can’t remember a year where the 4 was a major part of our offense.

Second this. I would want an athletic, big wing. We’ll have quality shooters next year in IMac and Rhode. Gotta believe some others step up also. It’s refreshing to be this good on defense again, albeit with a small sample size.

Gill?

Yeah, I thought about Gill. He was certainly a big part of the offense. But he wasn’t exactly a stretch, and he turned into a sound defender. I wouldn’t mind another Gill-type to replace Dunn.

With Bond Cofie and Robinson/Buchanan in two front court lineups.

We wont be able to afford a Dunn equivalent in the portal. Those go for high 6,low 7 figures

We need 3pt shooting in our front court more than anything else. We have the defensive anchors we already have been missing for a while.

both guards and still tbd on rohde. Neither can really slide to the 4 and space the court from that angle.

Was going to post something similar. A player like Dunn, even a poor man’s version, is more likely to enter the draft or get a Miami or SEC-type NIL.

I’d rather get a sniper from 3, and roll with the athletes we have.

The only thing I’m saying is that I don’t think it’s vital that the guy we bring in is a marksman, three point sniper at the 4 (although that would be great too). I think we need someone who can help us continue to be great on defense, and that’s likely someone who’s athletic with length.

Besides, I’m pretty confident that Bond is going to be a three-point sniper next year. Mark it down.

I don’t hate the idea of rolling out:

Bliss,
IMac,
Rohde,
Bond,
Buchanan

next year

Harris, Eli, Robinson, Cofie off the bench round out your nine man rotation

Yep. Don’t think we’d be looking for transfers based on this rotation

Can almost guarantee we wouldn’t go into 2024-25 with only 3 players on the roster over 6’6. 2 of the 3 never having played a college game.

Multiple transfers in might be the new norm. Have had that since the champ year.
