Evening scroll to see what I missed today. I see you received a high number of 's today.
Yep. The haters killing your boy tonight
For the record⊠the Engineering School version was called an Alderman Scholar.
Rodman Scholar for the toolies, I thought.
If Dave Odom replaced Terry Holland, maybe we never bottom out as a program. Great! But then we never hire Tony and probably never win a Natty? Quite a sliding doors!
Yep⊠got it wrong⊠i was definitely a toolie.
Echols and Rodman Scholars lived in the Maupin new dorms in 1997 with a smattering of athletes, mostly of the swimming variety. I lived there and was neither an athlete nor an Echols/Rodman Scholar, something I coped with by drinking my way onto academic probation my first semester.
2 in the bush
Atleast 2!
I lived in Dunglison in 97, but one of my suitemates referred to a girl in Maupin as âthe Maupin Goddess.â I probably havenât thought about that in over 25 years.
OG Maupin guy here back in 1986-87. We did have swimmers in the dorm back then too.
Some did. This one didnât. My girl and I came to UVA together, and she dumped me for a hooper.
Or Tim Duncan is part of our 1995 team that had everything except a star big man.
It was Rick Barnes and Jeff Mullins I believe.

I donât think the issue is with admissions at all. Itâs the university policy of requiring 60 credits at UVA for a UVA degree. Accreditation requires 30 credits but some colleges (UVA, Michigan) are more restrictive.
That policy makes it so a student transferring for their senior/fourth year at UVA needs at least two years to earn their degree regardless of how many credits theyâve earned elsewhere.
So that makes me wonder.
Letâs say player X spends 3 years somewhere else and wants to transfer to UVa for his last year. He earned 90âish credits at his previous school, and 30âish at UVa. Is there anything stopping him from transferring those UVa credits to his previous school, and applying for graduation at that school instead of UVa?
Tough to say now, but wasnât that essentially the Warley plan? Study abroad in Cville
Thatâs a really good question. In theory that should work.
The main complication is you would likely be transferring classes that apply to your major back to the original college. If the courses you took at UVA donât all transfer back to specific major requirements at the first (or the first college doesnât offer the same major) you could still need to take a few more classes to round out the degree requirements.
Itâs easy to transfer in general education classes, but classes towards the major can be much more difficult.
Whereâs the love for Chris Alexander?
I remember Mullins playing for Golden State, but I had basically forgotten he coached UNC-Charlotte for 11 seasons. He made the NCAAs 3 times and the NIT twice and never won a game in either tournament. If we had hired a Dukie with that resume, this board would have gone nuts (if it had existed)
