I hope the programs are hammered and hammered hard. They made the choice to hire the coaches. Otherwise schools will keep hiring turds like Pitino, Wade, and Pearl.

I agree, especially with Donald Hand Jr. and Epps being local prospects in 2022. There would be no room to pursue Donald Hand Jr. and Epps (unless they wanted to redshirt which I don’t see happening) since we would want to get another guard to go along with him.

Good analysis. However it is premised that no one transfers or leaves. That has not been Virginia’s experience (with possible exception of this year). And transfers are likely increasing if players don’t have to sit out a year.

Donald Hand Jr and J Epps. Who is that. LMAO

I watched some video of Brizzi last night and he looked awesome. Wonder why hes not ranked. With the Nova offer and UVA and UNC interest that will change. I was very impressed with him. Where does he play AAU ball?

16u AAU last summer. National guys that do that stuff barely know who he is. I just ran a twitter search. None of them tweeted his offer, only regional sources like Prep Hoops and Phenom Hoop Report.

He played with Team BBC last summer, Adidas program in Baltimore. He’s switching to the new Team Curry on the Under Armour circuit this year, assuming there is any.

I sure know him and once again he can ball. I swear he was on UVA radar last yr and they communicated. I dont have my notebook with me tu check. But Brizzi is a top 100 tu 150 player. Maybe a little higher. He is not 6’3 and not athletic. He is not slow either. The state of VA is full of top 21 and 22 guards. Everybody talk about Dug but the state is loaded.

Brizzi visited for a game last year. They’ve kept some tabs on him since, but well when he’s hearing from a staffer while Villanova’s making him their only PG offer, needless to say UVA’s a bit behind. In all honesty, he should consider committing to Villanova soon. People here absolutely think he would have taken off this summer, exactly what Tu is saying. But when you have Jay Wright believing in you first going out on a bit of a limb, that’s pretty special. Probably where he belongs.

Well I dont know the level of competition he played on but his passing shooting and moves are all great. I’m gonna keep an eye on him

It’s embarrassing if we let them come in and snatch him. We should’ve been all over him.

What are you talking about, that’s just silly. We are well positioned with lots of 22 guards. If we do take a smaller guard in 21 it would be someone like Stevie Mitchell who Tony clearly likes, but go on about how it’s embarrassing…

I just don’t like seeing us dragging our feet on a kid who I think we will ultimately offer. If the staff doesn’t like something about what they see, that’s a different story. But I don’t think that’s likely to be the case. I don’t want to see this happen with Justin Taylor, either.

I also wouldn’t call Brizzi a small guard. He’s grown significantly over the past year and a half. He’s a guy that can play 1-3 like Dev or Ty. I would understand being hesitant on a kid if he was limited to a specific position but that’s not the case with Brizzi.

I know local recruiting doesn’t matter as much in hoops but sometimes it seems like we go out of our way to not recruit kids in the DMV. At the end of the day, obviously Tony & co know best. They’re going to make the best decisions for the program, so I assume there must be something I’m missing on Brizzi. But it does sting to see a competitor come into our backyard and beat us to the punch.

Do we have any relationship with Harrison Ingram, who I saw we offered on 247?

I wouldn’t understand if they didn’t drag their feet. Based on the projected roster for '21/'22, it’s hard to imagine that young Mr. Brizzi would fill a position of need. It might be nice to have him if there is room on the roster, but that doesn’t seem entirely likely, IMO. While I have no inside knowledge, whatsoever, it has dawned on even me that the staff appears to be focused on Reid, Keels, and, possibly, Holmes. Coach Bennett might be swinging for the fences in his pursuit of these three, but, for the moment, I think he has the luxury to do so. Especially, if he gets a commitment from Murphy. Meanwhile, the backcourt is sort of loaded. You have to ask yourself how attractive Virginia is to Mr. Brizzi, too. He might be a very nice player. However, timing is everything, and I can’t see much a mutual attraction, at this time.

The staff is not dragging their feet with Brizzi. They had him at a game last season. He is not a top 40 5 star recruit. The better question is why did Villinova pull the trigger so early?

Yeah they’re definitely recruiting him. I doubt he’s been offered. He announces them all on twitter. Seems unlikely he’d forget the reigning champs.
