11pts on 4-6 from the field, 1-2 from 3, 4 rebounds, 2 assists. Showed off his athleticism some. Underrated part of his game is shot blocking. Feels like he has 1 or 2 every game like Reece (Not in the boxscore/final box score aint up yet).
Hmmmmmmm. Freddie doesn’t play EYBL though so the tweet is wrong. But yeah Freddie is good. Probably a 5 star/very underrated. If he cuts back on the turnovers, oh boy.
Thats why you take Gertrude now if you can (no guarantee, seems to be early in his recruitment with us vs the local schools of Rutgers Seton Hall and St Johns. On top of his explosion this summer bringing new suitors).
Tomorrow games
8am:
Isaiah Abraham vs Justin Edwards
Elijah Gertrude vs Seattle Soy Boys (jk)
11am
TJ Power vs Milan Momcilovic (bet we have someone on staff watching this stream)
Jaydon Young vs that All Ohio team with kids on our radar who we probably wont recruit
12:30pm
Tafara vs Mokan Elite
And then TJ Power arrives for his official visit. He has no instagram so no insta stories during the visit showing how its going.
Jaydon Young with a weekend to forget. Hasn’t been impressive. Will get to show more with scholastic period I assume but not doing much even with his limited touches.
Amani Hansberry with 18 pts, 5 rebounds 4 assists, 1-1 from 3. Draymond Green center. If Tafara is a no-go and Amani can reclass to 2022 and redshirt, offer that man lol.
I think outside of guys like @HoozGotNext and @TUGARD and @Marktykobe it is beyond all of our understanding. My recruitment was very very different. Essentially I was considered the last real D1 point guard left in 1989 and everyone rushed in around Feb and March my senior year. I was very close to being picked by UNC (which I didnt know then) but a great man who was and still is my mentor said you gotta go to UVa. The truth for me is Virginia coulda done with or without me so I showed those mufkrs I belonged. hahahha
@chavlicek15 was a bigger recruit and better player outta HS
Since Williford is liking Tafara stuff on twitter leading me to believe we still have a 1% chance, a nasty Tafara Dunk #maketheLRAwebsiteputtheinstavideointhemessagesagain
Since its down time and no one important is playing.
I want Cody Williams. Top 30 recruit whose recruitment hasn’t really picked up at all. And he sounds like a UVA kid in all of his interviews. No one is prioritizing him at the moment (people focused on top 20 recruits and transfers). A Trey Murphy/Hunter wing who is “on the young side” for his class (which is rare in the age of 19-20 year old freshmen)
Clip. Watching several clips of him, he’s the closest I have ever seen a recruit resemble DeAndre Hunter. I know we pitch it to our wings like Leon Bond ( more of a Matisse Thybulle) and Ryan Dunn (Danny Green type). This kid is just Hunter. https://www.instagram.com/p/CZSi3gXDJj6/
His brother is a projected first round pick from Santa Clara. Dude is 6’6 with a 7’2 wingspan and a 40% 3pt shooter. I remember messaging HGN saying “How does someone with those intangibles end up midmajor, even with out the shooting? 6’6’ with a 7’2 wingspan”. He gave me the “its impossible to project how kids end up 3-4 years down the line”
Reminds me of a Murphy/mamadi hybrid. Obviously long and athletic with some nascent (or at least they look nascent) shooting/dribbling skills. If he would buy into a 3 year development plan he could be awesome. He needs at least a year of strength training and then another year learning to defend 2-5 then a year of putting it together with the offensive toolkit.
Then he (Power) makes the halfcourt prayer! Lol. Milan is definitely the better pure shooter (more Hauser-esque / but doesn’t seem to have the Key parts in his game).
This is based on 30 second of game watching (i.e., therefore unimpeachable)
I guess the question is who projects better in our Hauser stretch 4 role 3 years from now. There’s an interesting discussion about MM on the WI board. Apparently his aggressiveness has picked up but physicality still isn’t there. Most are baffled as to why they haven’t offered (theory being the two traits listed) but think he’d do very well in our system.
