Confirmed they are twin brothers - so yeaaaa probably a two for 1 for Auburn, but if not the guy could look great in orange in blue somewhere else
Extremely hard no on Towt. Only 6ā8, great rebounder but has zero range and is a career 42% FT shooter.
An underrated part of portal season is the oh I remember that guy effect of the names that pop upā¦and the reminder that thereās a slippery recruiting slope. These HS kids pop upā¦one day they have famous coaches coming to their games, the next theyāre signing to play in front of 800 people in the A-Sun.
If it is Odom, I think Kaleb Banks is a REALLY good fit. Good stocks. Elite athlete. Solid catch and shoot threes.
Controversial not sure if Im all about the Rowan Brumbaugh/Kaleb Banks package deal. Rowan a Northern Virginia kid with good 3pt shooting and assist to turnover ratio but dribbles a little too much and not as sure how he is downhill and attacking. (I do remember during his HS tweet a reputable scout watching him saying he reminds him of UVA and Villanova pgs.)
My Transfer Portal Wishlist (Part 3)
A proven shooter based on made baskets, not just percentage but also avoiding shot chuckers (guys with eligibility that have 3.0 makes per game, shooting 37% or higher)
- Isaac McKneely - Virginia (please donāt let him leave)
- Ryan Conwell - Xavier ($$$)
- Donovan Atwell - UNCG ($$)
- Adanteā Holiman - Georgia Southern ($$)
- CJ Luster II - Stony Brook ($)
- Tyler Lunderblade - Belmont ($$)
- Abdi Bashir Jr. - Monmouth ($$)
- Honor Huff - Chattanooga ($$)
Role that is in high demand so Iāll gladly settle for just 1 of these guys that isnāt named McKneely since ideally we retain him.
We know Sharma, but if you had to guess ā who are the 5 to stay?
Dai Dai is a good example of what I might prefer in the portal. Feel like you have a better chance of a high ceiling kid if you find underclassmen with meh stats but huge potential and just need further development/new change of scenery.
I feel like a lot of these mid Major kids even with solid percentages are probably not good enough to start at UVA or end up as starters at schools like NC State or BC.
Would rather have had a choice of Lang - Buchanan. Couldnāt vote on that one (Buchanan - Power) because no thank you
Final Piece - My Ideal 13 Next Year
For a grand total of $7M on the dot, hereās how Iād want to spend my money. Iām not an expert on going rates these days so some of these may be way off in either direction but curious to see how others would break it down now that revenue sharing/salary cap starts to become a factor:
- Isaac McKneely - $1.5M
- Donovan Dent - $1.1M
- Honor Huff - $700k
- Rafael Castro - $700k
- Rohde - $650k
- Saunders - $650k
- Duke Brennan - $500k
- Mallory - $400k
- Anthony Robinson - $350K
- Gertrude - $350k
- Sharma - $100k
- Power - $0
- Lang - $0
Recent Tipton Instagram follows along with Isaiah Coleman.
Jalen Reed is interesting as a skilled 4 man with size but coming off an acl tear I believe.
If we have strong shooters at the one and two spot I think Skillings has a lot of value as a defensive wing.
We want Jaylen Reid though
Thatās great news. Even if one of the 5 is Power, going from recent history thatād be better than best-case scenario retention looking at recent coaching changes.
If scholarships are still year to year. The other question is will Ryan let everyone stay??
Iām sure heās fine with keeping anyone that wants to stay in the 11ā13 spots on the roster.
If you assume (and maybe you donāt) that weāll keep Gertrude, Lang, and Sharma⦠then getting to 5 isnāt a stretch. Just have to hang on to 2 of 9.
I assume Lang doesnāt count toward the 5 as a walk-on.
Lang should go to Hampton Sydney then become a coach cause in 10 yeats he will be at top program making 5mm per year
Thats just what happens
So close @HoustonWilson
I think he mostly just likes playing basketball and is happy to get his college education paid for. In HS, his dream was always becoming an orthopedic surgeon, not anything sports-related, but that might have changed.
Everyoneās gonna be thrilled when we bring back 5 players and itās Lang, Bryce Walker, Eli Bennett, Markus Rouse, and TJ Power.
