I only suggest we all put this debate down for now. McCollum isnāt our coach, heās not in our conference, nor is he on our schedule. Unless he somehow turns Iowa into the next Alabama (he wonāt btw), his genius/creds for the HOF are practically immaterial to the point of this board.

Too lazy to copy them all in, but this quote isnāt debate. Itās pedantic bs. Be more convincing and maybe your well-researched position will win more traction.
One last thing, most debates end for two reasons:
- someone proves their position effectively as judged by others, or
- someone disengages because itās a waste of time

I wasnāt trying to debate tho, I was merely imploring the other to actually do research on an opinion that was uninformed. Iāve actually done a more detailed breakdown of his Xs and Os on another board before and I can do it again if you want (preferably in a DM to not further devolve the thread). Just lmk

I am convinced that UVa is one of the toughest P4 schools to recruit to. I do not fully understand why. Itās a beautiful place. You cannot convince me that Olen, or Pitino, or McCollum or anyone else would have an easy time recruiting here. Taking HGNs possible number of money spent (not sure if that includes Thomas or someone else not yet announced) but you would think 6.2 mil would have paid for at least a competitive starting five.
Point is it just seems harder for UVa than most.

I think I would reject this premise. Think this claim is a little misleading. This staff, school, facilities, rich history, 6.2 mil etc. got a starting backcourt and quality bench depth. Do they have to fill the front-court with a few quality pieces? Yes, obviously. But Iām still cautiously optimistic we do that.

And I could be underestimating what it should cost to pay a competitive starting five. If we have 10 mil to work with we are in a good place. If we are running into the limit of our NIL budget then we have left ourselves with major holes. Like I noted before if the 6.2 mil figure includes Malik Thomas I feel like that is pretty solid. If that 6.2 is retaining Gertrude and paying for White, Lewis, Hall and Tillis then I would be a little more concerned.

I donāt think this is the offseason to worry about money. Next season, sure, but Odom will get what he needs/wants this offseason if he can find guys worth the money.
