Thats great. Passionate is right
2 posts were split to a new topic: Cuts from the Corner: A Personal āThank Youā to Tony Bennett
For the @UVApride7 list, since he wonāt give out edit rights: Dan Earl and/or Brian Earl? Maybe go for a Wachowski sibling kinda vibe?
Probably a bit early / too much of a leap. What the one bro did at Cornell was pretty impressive
We can make it a wiki with edit rightsā¦
WRT @haneyās earlier point regarding continuity (yes, Iām a couple of days late to the party and too lazy to go find it and respond directly), I think there is only one bit of continuity that is important and that is just for this season.
The season is about to start and the team canāt be expected to learn a whole new offensive and defensive scheme at this point. Sanchez and the rest of the staff can maintain continuity with what the team has been practicing up to this point.
After that, continuity means a whole lot less. I agree that the last few years since the Natty have been disappointing, There is no reason to maintain continuity with the Packline or with our offensive schemesāespecially given the inevitable roster turnover which makes it nearly impossible to implement either with the same effectiveness as we did in the glory years.
And whoever wins the job is going to be dealing with roster turnover, so that doesnāt give Sanchez any particular value over a proven HC from outside.
But as Iāve said elsewhere, I donāt see where Sanchez has any inside track to the permanent job short of a Final Four, or maybe an Elite Eight. Carla can and should conduct a national search starting NOW. Sanchez can audition for the job just like every other candidate.
I was just pulling his leg. I canāt be trusted with publicly editable docs.
Iād take a sweet 16
yes.
He couldnāt help but make it about himself/turn it into a recruiting pitch.
Lack of common decency/respect that humans have for one another in his response.
Oh, Iāll take a Sweet 16 too. I just donāt think even a Sweet 16 gives Sanchez the inside track, much less an automatic contract as the permanent HC.
Iāll take a Sweet 16 appearance. I guess Iāll also date Sydney Sweeney, if someone has to. Man, life is hardā¦
I think they would keep him with a Sweet 16 run with an eye towards a lot of the team returning. Whether that is correct or not, I donāt know.
Whyās the automatic assumption that everyoneās leaving if thereās a coaching change? I mean yeah probably a lot of guys, but donāt like almost half stick around? Not every situation is like Louisville.
I guess I should take a look at Kentucky and Arkansas and USC and SMU to see how many who didnāt leave for the draft or ran out of eligibility stuck around.
Cal pillaged Kentucky ā took multiple players to Arkansas with him.
Yeah, apples and oranges with Kentucky. My thought is that barring a terrific season and bonding among the players and Sanchez, I donāt see where he ensures any higher level of roster continuity over an established HC brought in from outside.
Iām rooting for Sanchez and, probably think that the best outcome would be for him to turn out to be the one to take us to a new golden era. But Iām not counting on that and Carla shouldnāt either.
All had a lot of turnover. For this upcoming season, I think the high-major team with the highest percentage of returning minutes after a coaching change is BYU with 49.4% of minutes returning. But BYU has a couple of other special factors going for it that make it harder to generalize. The next team after them isā¦squints at listā¦actually SMU with 33.3% of minutes returning?
If Sanchez reached the Sweet 16, he would keep the job 100%. Next question.
100% - if he does in one year what TB did only 3 times, heās getting a longer look
If Sanchez wins a national title this year, I will consider being OK with the interim tag being removed. After a full national search for due diligence of course.
If Sanchise wins the natty year one I will streak the lawn butt naked at noon.
Edit: and will be done walking. Is that illegal?
And weāll raise the money to bail you out in time for the party.
