Sometime months ago you posted that you thought complete relaxation of the transfer rules was going to open Pandora’s box. Frankly I’m not sure who disagreed with that. Surely it was going to alter the landscape. But you’ve spent the last two days telling everyone I told you so over something that seemed pretty obvious to begin with. Now you start using real names and saying they’re only hypothetical? So if Casey does indeed transfer, are you going to come back over here and say I told you so? Man, you’re all over the place.

I will be interested to see how this plays out for our program. Players may tend to become less patient due to the ease of transferring and potential opportunities. We built our program on development. Players must embrace the journey. Will they? CTB has now built a reputation for development. I hope we take advantage of that by continuing to reach for transfers who recognize what is available to them at UVA. This could be a sweet spot for us.

On the topic of transfers, the rumor on the UNC board was that they didn’t go hard after Jonas Aidoo when they learned he had some academic issues? But he actually graduated at age 17 in 2020 and was doing prep school this year. IDK the full story. He needs to add some muscle but he isn’t as big of a project as our past bigs have been. Lanky rim protector who can shoot. Only issue is that he sometimes seems to be too in love with the perimeter game and not get downlow but that could work in our 5 out offense.
Well that’s true. We don’t offer sanctimony and “I told-you-isms”, so it is much more pleasant not being trolled all of the time.

I can see this leading to Tony Bennett leaving for the NBA. Not only do you have to recruit a kid to come to your school in the first place, now you have to recruit them to stay, maybe on an annual basis? And then you have to recruit transfers to replace the ones you lose?

I’ve always believed Tony’s next move is the league or retirement. And it’s a 50/50 shot of either

This year could be a taste of the future. Blending a freshman, transfer, a second transfer (albeit a sit one, play one), along with other young players shows players can play early at UVA and CTB can adapt.

Also shows NBA GMs and owners that he’s adaptable and willing to try new things. If they were concerned that his defensive or offensive systems wouldn’t translate to a league with elite shooters and elite athletes.

Gonna throw this out and in some ways, I can’t believe I’m saying it. When Keels announces in a couple weeks, if it’s not UVa, I don’t mind if it’s Duke just to clearly shut up Villanova fans. Duke fans are arrogant but the Nova fanbase is getting close to that level. It’s to the point, I think if he goes elsewhere, their supposed insiders will tell anyone who will listen it’s nothing more than a head fake and he’ll wear a Villanova uniform.
They were saying that 6 months ago. They may be right but I know what you mean.

Many of the “better name” posters adamantly disagreed with me. For some it was tu just disagree because it was me saying it. But im past that. Give me a few more weeks and many will get their wish. I think TB will be a horrible NBA coach and it has nothing tu do with my opinion about him as UVA coach. Tony has a chance tu get a statue built at UVA and the court named after him. Why in the hell will he leave UVA AND go coach the type of players yall say is making him dislike recruiting and college ball. Can you see TB telling Harden he is not playing because of defense. I’m not sure he can be successful in the league either. But it’s harder to think of a scenario where hed go to another college. But i could see him taking a swing at the nba. If i was betting id say he retires at like 55 and that’s it
