Transfer tracking

Mckoy was borderline not ready this year, let alone last year. Last year every game was a rock fight. I side with Tony on not losing more games last year.

On Hunter, I will concede I guess but we don’t really know when during the year he was ready, and that year we had 10 guys playing double digit minutes so there wasn’t a ton to go around.

As freshmen: Reece played. Casey played. Ty played. Kyle played. Hell, Jared Reuter played. I’m just not seeing the pattern of freshmen being held back.

Going from Bennett to Crean is… a change.

It says more about where he was in his development, unfortunately.

Kihei, Reece, London all averaged 25-30 minutes as freshmen. It’s just wrong to say Tony doesn’t play freshmen. What’s more accurate is that Tony gives out playing time based on certain priorities-- limiting turnovers, playing defense – that may be different from what people on this message board prioritize.

It’s certainly fair to disagree with Tony’s priorities. But it’s how he coaches, and he’s had a pretty good track record with it so far.

You’re right. There’s a clear bias against tall players. Which is counterintuitive given we’re talking about basketball and Tony is pretty good at coaching basketball.

Yeah I mean I think you got my point. I never said he didn’t play freshman. Just that there are certain non-starters (no pun intended).

Anyway, I’m in the camp that thinks some of these guys have to learn by failing. And they can still
contribute while doing so. You don’t get that shot in this program.

[Joe Bamisile] [Virginia Tech] to [George Washington]

That’s…a choice

Tony plays the guys he thinks give him the best chance of winning. Defense comes first of course, but Sam played pretty not great defense yet he played a lot this year.

The only real non-starters are a lack of buy in and a lack of effort. Beyond that it is lack of ability.

Do you think there is any interest this time?

Tar and Feather first, followed by pillories, stockades and whipping posts…THEN the pitchforks!

That’s “Hit the Road Jack,” but I guess it could mean Georgia.

Talking Gardner here. I have no idea. He can go just about anywhere.

I remember being at the blue-white scrimmage Dre, Kyle and Ty’s first year. Dre looked lost in that scrimmage, so I think it’s fair to say he wasn’t totally ready right away. I do think he would have been good for us at some point in his first year.

Also have to remember that he wasn’t that good even in his first year playing until ACC play started. Remember the Christmas Break transfer rumors his brother was starting? Lol

Yes he would’ve contributed at some point his first year but it was a crowded roster. Lottery pick was not obvious at that stage though, so there was some logic to preserving the year of eligibility. Obviously things changed. I doubt he’s complaining about how it turned out for him

We seem to have pretty good luck recruiting NC kids.

UNC probably the favorite if they’ve reached out.

I was thinking Georgia this afternoon when thinking about his landing spots. Close to home, could fill some of what Edwards was allowed to do. I thought he’d take a look at Alabama too.

Did Coach Williford just start following Walker Kessler on Twitter today? I didn’t notice him listed yesterday where it shows if any of your followers are following him. :face_with_monocle:
