Liked that dude a lot today
Not sure Ryan is Dougie Freshās top choice. If he were to transfer, where does that put Gertrude on the list of guards and possibly Bliss if Bliss classes up?
As a 5th year player in his 6th year of college Bball, I have to imagine Ryan would help a team. Not sure UVA is the right team.
Curious to hear what you think of his defense and his ability to play/shoot coming off screens.
I like this a lot. Need a wing shooter who has a defensive floor to keep him getting minutes. Not that he or ND is good at d, but the college experience is usually enough of a foundation. Thereās always an on ramp for first years, and this gives them time to get their feet wet on defense.
True. Even Hauser eventually became more than a traffic cone on D.
My first question when even thinking of adding Cormac was āhow is he on defense?ā LOL a UVA fan through and through. He seems to be averaging 1 steal a game for the last 4 years. I would need someone who knows more about stats and data and what that data actually means to tell me if heās a passable defender.
And I was thinking about the wing shooter I would want to add being a grad transfer so they arenāt a longterm road block.
Cormac probably isnāt the lockdown defender you want at the 3/it would mean Reece having to be the best guard defender again which would put him at risk of getting injured or getting into foul trouble. But he is an elite shooter/floor spacer and is consistent.
I think the formula is you want 3 40% 3pt shooters on the floor at all times, and him McKneely and hopefully Traudt could be that. And if Armaan comes back and doesnāt have his odd year dip (since he alternates years in terms of being elite or not at 3pt shooting) that would be incredible too. Different lineups with different players but maintaining that 3 3pt shooters above 40% rule.
I would be a little worried about his lack of ability to make a play with the ball; doesnāt really drive the ball much or get many assists. A lot of times yesterday where he would get a ball screen set for him, take 1-2 dribbles off the screen, and then pass because he didnāt have any thing else he could do.
I actually thought about that too but how much of that was because he was matched up with Reece the entire game?
Watching his season highlights from last year, heās more of the 3pt specialist/catch and shoot guy like Guy. McKneely is going to be more of a Brogdon type in my mind.
While I canāt imagine why Ryan would transfer, I wonder about his status as a transfer. Traditionally, a grad transfer is someone who completed their degree while competing for just three seasons. Ryan is eligible for the ācovidā year, but does the that make this a grad transfer? Additionally, since he transferred from Stanford to Notre Dame, he doesnāt qualify for the immediate eligibility status as a regular transfer. Does anyone know how the NCAA is treating this rare circumstance?
If heās graduated he can grad transfer for immediate eligibility if he enrolls in a grad school at UVA I believe.
Also Brey is going to be leaving ND after the season is over so I imagine a lot of ND players are eyeing a new team come April.
Iām still not sure why CR left Stanford. I have to get the scoop.
Iāve watched him play multiple times during his time at ND. Definitely catch and shoot player. Curious how heād do flying around screens and making shots. Kyle so remarkable at it.
Iām fairly certain hes graduated. I think ND has multiple grad students/athletes on the Bball team.
Tough way for Brey to go out. Really nice guy.
Well Justin Mckoy had delusions of grandeur, there must be other players that can contribute as a three star.
Do we have anyone on the 2024 roster that can get 29 in an NCAA Tournament game? Or any game?
Maybe. I dont think anything Cormac Ryan showed in his first two years of college made anyone go āThis kid is going to drop 29 in the tourneyā
Weāll find out when we get there
Definitely a few interesting players in mid-major conferences if they decide to transfer. Marques Warrick is one of my favorites.
Some good guards in the Big West as well. Ajay Mitchell, Zyon Pullin, Elijah Pepper. They could all potentially be transfer targets in the future.
I like Pepper. Are we allowed to take another UC Davis player or is there a waiting period for that.
Chris Ledlum from Harvard. Heād be popular if he goes the grad transfer route. Was a high major recruit who chose Harvard anyway.
Could send a really big F U to the Rice program lol
Wonder if thereās any relatively easy way to check the success of up transfers from specific conferences? For example, because of Trey Murphy and Drew Peterson my perception is C-USA guys arenāt as big of a risk as CAA guys but thatās completely anecdotal
