Itās the worst non-UMBC loss of Bennettās tenure, and I donāt think thatās an ounce of exaggeration.
If LRA bails on the post-game I wouldnāt blame them at all.
Iām tired at marveling at how much talent TB can squeeze out of untalented teams. Iād rather just have talented teams.
Can anyone explain to me why CTB will change? He literally has said he wonāt change
Fair enough, but the post I replied to said ālast time we lost like this we won 8 straightā, so I was referring to this season.
Also the 106-63 to Washington was in Maui. I was there, and I nearly got arrested pre-game. The game was somehow worse than that.
āVirginia is in the tournamentā-bracket people. Virginia Basketball, āHold my Beerā.
Really?! Syracuse still a way more impactful and devastating loss.
Do you just mean in terms of opponent and margin?
Yes heāll likely retire and instead of winning the ACC with average talent, weāll go back to being a .500 team hoping to make the tournament every few years
Itās fine that teams do that, but I just donāt think the data supports that it matters, so I have always appreciated that CTB doesnāt call timeouts during adverse runs.
99% of coaching happens pre-game. Unfortunately the main visible lever a coach can pull in game is a timeout, so they do it a lot.
Eli hit his other two layups on MJ Collins though.
I dont think a blocked shot or a missed layup is a qualifer for bad though. That would mean our starters should never play then, right? Itās virginia tech, everyone their team is bad. Which makes tonight even more frustrating
Shit. Elijah was the only guy that attacked. Start Eli over Rohde
We did win 16 of our next 17 after Tennessee though, but not eight straight till after the Duke loss. Freaking Sulaimon.
Unfortunately because of the ACC reputation this loss hurts us way more than those losses for Kansas and USC
It reminded me a lot of UMBC in the chickens-with-heads-cut-off play on offense and defense, but UMBC the guys were giving their all (albeit in stupid ways) until the end. We quit in this one.
Absolutely! Rhode did nothing in his minutes, get someone in there who is attacking.
I dont understand why you are assuming this. 1) the acc is weak. 2) Tony retiring would signal that he himself sees he is not fit to be successful in this new era. 3) We have had successful coaches at UVA in the past (see 80s and 90s in a stronger acc). And past doesnāt determine future. Otherwise Tony shouldnāt be successful at UVA with the situation he inhereted 4) New coach would have what Tony built to work off of and JPJ and resources that they would actually take advantage of.
UVA basketball is much more than just the Leito years.
We really couldnāt afford blowouts, this will probably tank our NET 9-10 spots. I still think 2-2 (wins over BC/GT) will have us probably just in heading into the ACC tournament but we will likely need to pick up a win there to feel good about our chances. If one of those two is UNC/Duke it would be better.
I caught the last minute of the game and Gertrudeās layups were a breathe of fresh air. Iām excited about his future here and frustratingly resigned to what his role is the rest of the season
I do think criticizing the staffās talent eval and recruiting ops is warranted. It deserves scrutiny at this point.
We are the only team in america that rolls out 10-12 players in random rotations on any given night. wtf is that
I donāt care how young or how old you are
You fucking fight or I canāt stand you
Ty was a freshman in that Villanova game
We didnāt win but I saw what I needed
Now we roll over and take the ass whooping against our bitter rivals like good little boys
Itās not okay
