Nope. Donāt believe so. Otherwise Primo Spears would be playing for FSU right now. One undergrad transfer means one unless thereās a family emergency. Otherwise graduate and get your grad transfer.
I thought DJU grad transferred last year, so this would be a 2nd grad transfer.
I think youāre spot on with limiting outgoing transfers, knowing that in todayās world thereās going to be some of that no matter what, but keeping the Fields and Kams of the world on the roster is a massive milestone.
I think youāre right about the second part in regards to bringing in more/better players is a measure, however I think when the dust settles may not be until the start of next season. Again I point to Washington as an example or even Muskett, on paper small net gains but once they hit the field big time gains.
ESPN has an article with the top 50 transfers in the past 5 years. Washington was ranked mid 40s. AJ Johnson was right around there too. Olu was in the high 20s I think.
Not on 247 - anything noteworthy regarding portal scoops lately?
Thereās been some updates but I feel kinda weird posting what JF has said in the VIP threads, paywall info should stay behind paywalls IMO. I know it happens all the time to HGN here too but itās all bad practice for the people doing it.
Good, bad, meh?
A little bit of all three lol. Will share this bit of info since JF posted it on Twitter:

TE is a MAJOR position of need for us in the portal and this dude has been raking in interest.
Yeah, for the most part I donāt really agree with the āBronco left the roster in bad shapeā takes, because its normal for lots of kids to transfer when the HC leaves.
But Bronco barely used TEs, so he barely recruited them, and the team badly needing TE depth is very true.
No I agree. The answer will come at the end of the next season. Weāll think we know the answer before then but we really wonāt until this time next year.
The TE depth issue got masked by bringing in two straight transfers that worked out well in Poljan and Woods. It was ultimately unsustainable to keep bringing in one year guys though and they did a horrible job of stacking depth at that position before they left.
The lack of TEs on the roster (for all Air Raid teams) makes it hard for defenses on those teams to practice.
This article was pretty illuminating to me at least. What is life like as an Air Raid defensive coordinator in college football? Let them tell you - The Athletic
TE we got from Ok St was exceptional
No youāre taking the right approach. Iām just asking a yes/no haha. Just curious if thereās been any positive or negative momentum post-VT and into portal season
My biggest takeaway so far would be that Kam and AC are both actively trying to bring transfers into UVA on Twitter, which means at least on the surface they seem fully locked in. Weāre still gonna lose a fair share of guys but keeping our star 1st years retained is the biggest recruiting job the staff has this offseason.
Kam and ACa online activity Ibsee as a big win. Not only are they currently committed they are bringing attention and attempting to bring guys in
Weāve had four players total enter the portal so far this offseason. Jestus Johnson, Demick Starling, Ant Fisher (PWO) and Devin Clark.

Starling was known about a couple weeks ago. Clark was seen as a nice under the radar add near the end of the 2023 cycle but had some complications with grades along the way.
Overall not too bad or unexpected in terms of everyone will have attrition.
@UVApride7 do you have on hand the avg. Transfer per program? I havenāt seen a stat I donāt think
I donāt have the exact number on hand, but according to this article from The Athletic from a couple months ago there were 2,303 FBS scholarship portal entries in 2022-2023. Divide that out amongst 128 FBS schools carrying 85 scholarship players and thatās around 21% of your roster transferring out, which is right at 18 players on average. For comparisonās sake we had 17 players transfer out last year, so just below that baseline number.
Given how the percentage continues to increase year over year though, I would expect that average number to rise even higher this offseason.
Interesting appreciate it. That jives with the rough math I was using couldnāt find the exact number of portal entrants from last year. Stepping back a bit, I can see 2 sides to the story here 18 players/21% feels like a lot on paper, but it really comes down to who is in that 21% When you consider that a team can lose 18 players and technically it would only minimally affect their 2-deep. The other side is a team is losing 21% of their roster each year and in a sport that typically thrives on continuity that can be dangerous.
I 100% agree that number will likely rise as this becomes more common. Also if that data is from last year does the Colorado experiment skew the data even slightly, didnāt Prime turnover like 80ish% of his roster?
Anyways no real point from me here I feel like itās still early to make any sort of sweeping statements.
