Ends up being closer to 1/3-1/2 or more roster turnover every year cause that 85 probably includes 15-20 guys graduating/running out of eligibility as well.
Yeah Colorado had 57 scholarship players transfer out last year, which accounted for 2.5% of the total FBS portal entries and 51 incoming transfers. They were the biggest outlier by like 25.
Thatās what I thought not enough to majorly skew the data, but a definite outlier.
Prime is getting a lot of turnover this season too. He is a volume shopper.
Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year right there.
Prime doesnāt have the new coach exemption on bringing in new players this year, so if he needs to replace more than 25, thatās gonna be a problem.
We offered out of HS, though it was the previous staff. Had 25 catches for 329 yards this season.

I wonder how many of those 18/21% are grad transfers using their Covid extra eligibility. This year is when 2020 freshman would be seniors, so this class and the next (for guys who entered in 2020 and redshirted in 21 or later) should be the last ones with guys grad transferring to use extra eligibility.
Also wonder how many of those 18 are walk-ons and therefore shouldnāt be included either in the 85 or at all or maybe the denominator has to be higher to account for them.
Great point about the COVID year guys. I tend to forget that the tail end of them are moving through and I feel like a chunk of the portal movement can be attributed to players taking advantage of that.
Didnāt even account for the walk-ons do they have to declare for the portal? Also wonder how often that happens in general
Yeah, in hoops next season will be the last āfullā year of players having a Covid exemption. But in football its way more common for players to RS and end up hanging around an extra year, so itāll '25 will probably be the last ārealā full season of Covid exemptions. Iām fascinated to see how (and if) it substantially impacts portal/recruiting activity.
Will probably be the most sought after QB in the portal unless Arch enters. Rumors were swirling he was getting seven figure offers from powerhouse schools before he even put his name in.

Guy we offered out of HS. Probably an Aggie but would like to at least see us pursue, heās a very solid pass rusher.

St. Peterās Prep ā home of a pair of four-stars we got in the ā05 class: Rashawn Jackson and Mike Brown.
Jersey City my man.
Of the 4 guys we have in the portal, one is a walk-on.
Pretty sure everyone who transfers has to register for the portal regardless of scholarship status.
I think itās pretty common and one common complaint for people doing analysis on transfer outcomes is that they donāt know who has scholarships or not and who is getting a scholarship at a new school or walking on to a new school.
Now thatās the type of transfer that can change some oneās fortune right there. Wonder if a USC jumps in the mix?
My early guess would be Oregon. But heāll have a TON of suitors.

Feels like Arch is going to be in the portal soon, wild times.
It just blows my mind the dichotomy between the NFL and NBA where the NFL prefers you to be as seasoned as possible before coming out whereas the NBA drops you significantly the older you get. I get the NBA has a minor league whereas the NFL doesnāt, so I sort of get that the NBA has a mechanism for patient development. But stillā¦
