UVA Is Out of ACCT After Positive Covid Test

With the case level where it’s at everywhere (even with vaccine-driven declines), we are way beyond the point of “fault” here for positives; it’s just too easy to pick up the virus even when you’re taking precautions.

Agree there 100 percent. Happened to my son in season playing college soccer just 3 weeks ago

Totally agree and it doesn’t even matter. Just don’t want people to blame Duke or tournament worker or a ref (even Luckie). Fact is it is everywhere and highly transmissable. I fully expect someone to show up in Indy and have the same thing happen.

Interviews from Jay, Sam, and Kihei leads you to think it may be the man of the hour Reece that was positive… or maybe Trey.

Even if we could clear the NCAAT standard I don’t think we’d clear the Albermarle protocol in time. So I think we can’t go back to UVA before flying to Indy even if we don’t end the season

Just stop

I just read the article and am not sure why you’d think that?

I agree, but no need to start speculating which player, its 1 of 8, we all know that.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently–even before this devastating news. I’ve been trying to combat my tendency to blame/find fault with people who contract COVID. My wife and I have been more cautious than most, to the point of catching grief from family and friends. But we’ve also gone against guidance several times in several ways that exposed us to significant risk. We always justified it. But, in lots of ways, it pretty much undermined all the other precautions we’ve been taking. Hell, we just did it last week. It’s damned hard to go a whole year without gathering with family and friends, even if you know most of them aren’t taking the level of precautions you think they should. And we’re in our 50s and much less prone to have our reason overruled by emotion.

All of this is a long-winded way of saying I’ll be damned if I’ll blame an 18- to 23-year-old kid for contracting the virus. I wish the entire team well and hope nobody contracts a serious case. And I will focus on the fact that this news is much worse for them in every possible way than it is for me.

All I’m saying is if a Coleman, McCorkle, Abdul-Rahim, Stattmann, Shedrick, Caffaro squad with a few bench minutes from Katstra, Nixon and Poindexter won a game, it’d go down in sports history forever, haha.

Oh man that 30 for 30 would be epic. The team that should not have been.

Chase goes off in the tourney and takes us to Final 4 then we have a REAL point guard controversy

In that case, we’d have to be paired against Texas right?

If this insanely weird season ends with us letting Jabri loose in the tourney I will be a fully satisfied fan :joy:

In the last four years, UVA has ended its season in the following ways:

2018: First 1 Seed to lose to a 16 Seed
2019: National Title
2020: Won 8th straight game (5 in a row by 1 possession)
2021: Potentially Buzzer beating 3 by a Freshman who hadn’t hit a 3 in a month

For a such a “boring” program, we’ve been pretty entertaining as of late lol

Apparently are wearing some contact tracking device. Hopefully anyone that tech doesn’t flag as a close contact doesn’t have to start over on their 7 days of negative tests.
