UVA Is Out of ACCT After Positive Covid Test

They all got paychecks lost that year unfortunately

This is going to be a classic case of whether a leader will emerge and hogtie the bureaucrats within NCAA, ACC, and UVA.

Nick Saban was coaching a game three days after his positive test.

I looked at the CDC data again this morning. Less than 0.4% of Covid-INVOLVED deaths have been 29 & under. ~2,000 total out of 107,000 deaths from all causes for that age group. Pneumonia-INVOLVED deaths are roughly the same as Covid.

yes, it increases slowly as the age approaches 55+, but still very low-risk.

29+ million CONFIRMED Covid cases in the US, but at a multiple of probably 7-8x at this point (or higher) of UNreported cases, that’s 220-250 million people that this has spread through already - at least.

There’s no stopping it - it’s been everywhere. Slowing it was only to prevent hospital overload. 14-day or 7-day quarantines of 21-year-olds do nothing.

Again, nobody wishes a bad outcome on anyone, and it’s clearly still far-higher risk to 65+ people, so enable those folks to stay away IF THEY WANT TO.

Also, 34 Million of those 65+ have at least one vaccination, with 17 Million fully-vaccinated, with more every day.

What is this cancellation and policy accomplishing?

If they don’t have to cancel I am going to lose it.

Now pull the risk to someone’s life getting into a car with a 21 year old male.

At BassTech driving around drunk at 1am with a gun is just a 4 game suspension. That can’t be less risky behavior.

Man. Duke and Kentucky not in the tourney, now potentially no Kansas and the reigning champs. NCAA is probably not pleased with how this has been going.

That’s gotta be good news, right? Or would we be quarantining the posit w player?

You very well could be right…

Kansas is out of the Big 12 Tourney with a positive. Bill Self ain’t worried.

I would presume that the Covid positive fellow is on a different bus/vehicle

Kansas out of its tourney now too. That’s another projected top 5 seed.

Unfortunately it’s all up to CBS and Turner. NCAA will do as they are told.

Maybe the selection committee should just put all the COVID teams into a separate bracket.

One would think if Kansas plays UVA would too. The situations are virtually identical. I’m a bit worried though because UVA’s protocols have been stricter than most.

yeah UVA or local govt (not sure which) has tighter protocols. I’m hoping our people (sources) are working under the incorrect assumption those rules won’t be bent to match NCAAT protocols. The seemingly identical situation at Kansas creates a comparison. Definitely puts pressure on UVA. If they go and we don’t, it’ll be ugly.

As an alum that doesn’t donate, I will DEFINITELY not be donating if UVA’s draconian procedure keeps us out.

I totally agree. It would be a very tough pill for our players to swallow to withdraw and see Kansas out there playing. It would even be tough if UVA quarantines a ton of starters and Kansas only quarantines the positive player.
