Which protocols is he referring to? NCAAâs?
Yes, NCAAT protocols.
Ok. So in laymanâs terms. The positive guy is out for min 10-14 days. The other guys, if not hit by contact trace, are good to go w 7 days of negatives.
How in the world do we not get contact traced to oblivion with the guy playing yesterday
So it sounds like the determination on whether we can put a team out is contact tracing and assuming no more positives. Seems like a lot things have to go right.
Is it 7 days of negative starting now, or can previous tests count?
Constant motion. I assume the clock resets. So youâd have to be within that 6 ft circle continuously, not moving in and out of it.
Well, weâre probably safe on margin among NCAA games in total, as the record margin of loss is 117 points in an amazing DII game back in 1992: 1992 Troy State vs. DeVry men's basketball game - Wikipedia
Weâre probably safe on the all-time NCAA tournament worst loss as well: 69 points. In 1963 Loyola-Chicago (who were national champs that year), beat Tennessee Tech 111 to 42. They were up by 42 at the half. Since we wouldnât play Gonzaga or Baylor in the first round, a typical UVA-style pace should prevent anyone from scoring enough points to hit that margin.
Itâs actually cumulative time over a 24 hour period. So 3 exposures of 5 minutes each would do it.
What Iâm hearing, fwiw itâs not much, is theyâre trying to find five. Itâs all about contact tracing. Most are caught up in it.
I figured everyone who played âfailedâ contact tracing. If they can commit to having 5 who can play then they can hope no one else tests positive.
I think our best hope is to get #NCAAPUSHBACKTHETOURNEY trending on twitter. lol.
Is the contact tracing consistent for the NCAA tournament? Or is this by UVA/local government guidelines? Could Kansas not have to quarantine as many players as UVA?
One thing is we donât know who the Kansas player was. The UVA player saw action yesterday, or thatâs whatâs been reported. The Kansas guy might be a walk on who stayed clear of half the team. Itâs not necessarily apples to apples.
True, but heâd still be in the locker room, on the bus, and youâd think be generally around the other guys.
Wow this contact tracing crap is dumb. Complete overkill when people are being tested every day. If a kid tested negative every day from Wednesday until next Tuesday itâs absolute stupidity to say they canât play in the tournament. Even if they were making out with a covid positive person yesterday itâll be pretty clear they donât have the virus by Tuesday (the NCAA deadline to replace a team in the bracket).
I would find it hard to believe that any team member, regardless of PT, wouldnât blow through that 15 minute threshold though. Would be suspect for KU to play if we canât find 5
At least if you think his sources are accurate, Norlander seems to say Kansas is in pretty much same position with player who tested positive having played yesterday:
