UVA Is Out of ACCT After Positive Covid Test

I’m sorry, but if Kansas plays with a mostly complete roster (as Self’s unconcerned comments suggest) and UVA plays with five bench guys, or even worse, doesn’t play, that is complete BS.

oh missed that. So yep same deal with Kansas. I’ve been trying to talk to anybody who’s plugged in a little. It’s all hazy right now but there are some optimistic takes still. I think there might be a little more wiggle room in that 7 day thing than it seems, but I don’t understand the specifics.

Who was farthest from the epicenter of the Reece chase down after the buzzer beater? That’s our starting 5.

Is there any idea when we might have a go no go?

UVA’s protocols are not the issue you should be concerned about. Albemarle County’s protocols are those getting the most attention from what I’m told.

My child’s daycare has less stringent rules for a positive test or contact tracing. They also have very clear and understandable guidance.

This is ridiculous. The NCAA is a clown show.

7 consecutive tests, not days.

So why wouldn’t we just stay out of Albermarle? If GT can stay in Greensboro for a week before the tournament why wouldn’t we just stay there?

I trust program/administration officials to know how to best manage this situation. I doubt anyone on this board wants the team flying to Indianapolis any more than the players, coaches, Tony/Carla and their respective staffs.

What are their protocols?

And as the largest employer (I’m assuming) and revenue generator in the county, I’m hoping our UVA leaders should be able to work something out.

I don’t trust it is going to be up to them. My fear is people above them are going to pressure them to sit out even if the rest of the team is all negative. This contact tracing BS is way overboard. Made sense last summer and when guys were tested a few times a month but not now with the additional info we’ve learned and the frequency of testing increased.

Might be good to avoid speculating about what any specific person or administrator will advocate for (since we have no actual information on that) and just stick to discussing what we do know and what the protocols say. Maybe even by this evening we’ll have a slightly clearer picture, or maybe it’ll be tomorrow. But we all know the team wants to play if it can.

We have to find five in order to be able to meet the 11 PM deadline for tomorrow, is that correct? Assuming we can do that, can’t we add other guys to those five as (if) they clear contact tracing protocols? Seems like at least some guys ought to be able to clear contact tracing protocols before we played our first game.

yeah that’s what I think is happening @Leeotis It could come down to having walk ons and managers clear of tracing to buy time for others.

I’m sure everyone will want to play, but it sounds like the issue is the county contact tracing guidelines. Unless they somehow work around them, UVA will have to either cancel or play with a severely hobbled team that will lose in the first round anyway.

I thought I read somewhere that it was 11 on monday. That’s wrong?

I have heard both. Teel reported 11 PM tomorrow and Hootie reported 11 PM Monday. Tomorrow makes more sense to me, as I would think the selection committee would need to know before they draw the final brackets on Sunday. Plus, God bless Hootie, but I think Teel is probably more reliable.

I think the issue is that the protocols are anything but clear.

That and contact tracing is going to force completely healthy kids who have sacrificed a year of their life to play in this tournament sit out.
